1 Chobham & District Riding Club
CDRC CDRC August 2013 NEWSLETTER Welcome from the Secretary Apologies for the tardiness of the Newsletter. I only have myself to blame but as you will have possibly seen, in all the glory, on the website and Facebook pages I have had my hands full celebrating my birthday! As you know I never turn down an opportunity to socialise, if I don’t have to! Moving ahead to the RC schedule we have the Open Show coming up at the end of the month and I hope that we will see lots of you there. It is a big venture to take on Merrist Wood so we hope that it pays off and there will be lots of entries to fill the Club coffers for the next year. Don’t forget to put your entries in early to avoid disappointment. We have fantastic support from the RDA who are supplying around 20 helpers for the day. The June Show was successful and we hope to hand over £1000 to the RDA and £500 to Surrey Air Ambulance. Thanks to those of you who were there for your support. It was a great day. We will plan to run the Horse & Hound, Handy Pony and Fancy Dress all around the same time next year to maximise the fun and may even try to put in some Gymkhana games if we can get around Health and Safety! Happy Hacking! Claire Valvona Club Secretary

The event is aimed at Grass Roots and new combinations of horse and rider – and is great fun. There is an option to dressage, Show Jumping, Cross Country or Road & Tracks (or 2 classes). This will be the last event of the Summer Schedule.

6 Annual General Meeting
CDRC Forthcoming Events . . August 2013 CDRC Annual General Meeting Another year has flown past and the AGM is nearly upon us once again. Please note the date in your diary – Thursday 31st October This year we have the pleasure of using the lovely facilities at the Chobham Community Hall. As the date falls on Halloween we are suggesting that members come along in theme or to join in the spirit! There may be a few games and some ghoulish antics! We may even come up with some witches brew to keep you refreshed… We will be running a short quiz – general knowledge, some pictures, maybe a few equine questions and a Halloween round. This is always a nice way to catch up with members and an opportunity for you to let the Committee know that they have your support for all their efforts. It is also a forum to put forward your own suggestions for what we can do for the club and members and where we can best spend club funds raised through the year. This year we bought the computer so that the and website can be kept up to date. I will be retiring from the Committee this year as I think you probably need some fresh ideas – so there are some job vacancies to apply for. Claire ++ If you think you would like to join the Committee or have any ideas and suggestions to put forward please contact a member of the committee.
