A Day of Blake’s 7 in pictures

Hi there,

Today my brother and I attended the Blake event in support of the Alzheimer’s Society in Steventon.  I thought I would share some of the pictures.

I had no problem getting in:

John wasn’t so lucky

We got registered and spent some time in the Fan Zone

John was kind enough to treat me to a Lego Avon before they sold out…

…and we had a look around.  There were a whole host of replicas and props from the show on display.  Here are some pictures.

There was a very lively and interesting talk from the guests including Mat Irvine from the Effects department, June Hudson (who designed the costumes), Stephen Greif (Space Commander Travis), Michael Keating (Vila), Paul Darrow (Avon) and Gareth Thomas’ widow, Linda. they shared some memories of Gareth and some funny stories.

There was more old stuff to look at, even some bits and pieces that John and I remember having when we were children.

I then queued up to do the fanboy thing and get a picture with the group.

We followed that up with some tea and cake…

before looking at the vast array of original costumes from the show that were on display. These were the work of the very talented June Hudson.  I congratulated her on her work and told her that Servalan was Number 1 on my Who’s the best dressed woman in Space? list.  Check it out if you haven’t already.  Her work on Avon’s costumes meant that he came somewhere high on the Who’s the best dressed man in space?

Then I risked it all by getting into the Command Console.  It was quite bendy and I was worried it would break but I squeezed in and out without wrecking it.

We tried our luck with the quiz but were soundly beaten. (I beat John at least!). There were more troopers guarding the car park – work must be hard to come by since the Andromedan War!

Altogether, it was a very well-organised day.  Lots of credit to the organisers. I’m sure they raised a load of money for a very worthwhile cause and we were very proud to be part of it.

Thanks for reading,

Richard

  2. Thanks for sharing, Richard. Goodness, Paul has aged since I met him in Newark, NJ, but I suspect the same might be said of me.
