Match results weekend of the 17th of March

❤️ NVL Ladies

A bit late than usual, but here we come with last weekend’s match reports!💥

Arguably one of the most important matches of the season, our NVL ladies faced another leader in the table on Sunday: Cambridge Volleyball Club.

Motivation and team energy were at an all time high as the team were determined to beat them after losing to them in their last meet and also battle for second place in the table to gain a spot for promotion to Division 2.

It was a nail biting match that our squad won in the tie break!

Facing a strong blocking and attacking team, our ladies put up an epic defensive effort with countless long rallies, fierce serving and great attacks. We started strong, winning the first set 25-21🔥

The remainder of the match saw both teams trading sets and points until the fifth and final set, where Reading Aces pulled ahead and beat Cambridge 15-9 🙌🏻

Well done to all our players for an outstanding performance!

And big congratulations to Dragana for her MVP nomination!🏅Please watch 📷 the highlights here.

MVP was Denisa 👏👊👏

🖤 BVA Ladies

Really great start against Basingstoke, service was consistent particularly Raissa who served more than 10 in a row! Receives were good that reflected into solid attacks. Unfortunately sometimes the points we lost were due to silly mistakes or communication misunderstanding.

1️⃣ 25:9 2️⃣ 25:18

Congratulations to Cherrie for getting a MVP 👏💪👏!

Second game was against Mavericks.

The ladies had a strong start in the first set which put pressure on the opponent as they were making mistakes. This led victorious first set but unfortunately it didn’t convert into the game win. The ladies went very quiet and we particularly failed to produce good receive which stopped them making point and secure the game.

1️⃣ 25:21 2️⃣ 14:25 3️⃣ 8:15

Congratulations to Raissa for her MVP nomination 👏💪👏!

❤️ BVA Men 1

Men’s 1 played two games last weekend.

For the first match against Oxford Bulls. Despite losing 8-25 in the first set, the team put up a good fight for the second. Even though Men 1 faced against the 2nd place in the division, they managed to display some good receives and attacks. The game ended in favour of Oxford in 2 straight sets but spirit remained high.

1️⃣ 8:25 2️⃣ 16-25

Congratulations to Andrei for his MVP nomination 💪👏💪!

The second match against Maidenhead Magnet however, was a disappointing display. Men 1 were not able to play to the best of our ability and conceded to simple serves on numerous occasions. Unforced errors meant the opponent was able to take advantage of our mistake.

1️⃣ 15-25 2️⃣ 11-25

For the remaining matches, Men 1 will continue to reflect and improve.

Go Aces! 🖤❤️
