Local club, Ballysillan Gymnastics jump for joy after being awarded a £300 community grant from Northern Ireland's leading electricity supplier, Power NI through their Helping Hands scheme.

Helping Hands allows Power NI employees to nominate a local charity or organisation, close to their hearts for funding.

Thanks to the nomination by Power NI employee, Susan Hutchinson, who has daughters at Ballysillan Gymnastics club, new medals and trophies will be able to be purchased for competitions.

Ballysillian Gymnastics club are based in North Belfast and train in local leisure centre facilities every Saturday. The cross-community group, specialise in sports acrobatics and have been successfully churning out champions for over three decades.

Susan Hutchinson commented, “As an employee of Power NI, I was delighted to be able to apply for the Helping Hands grant to enable Ballysillan Gymnastics Club to purchase medals & trophies awarded at a recent competition held. All the young people worked so hard on their routines and thoroughly deserved to be recognised in the form of medals & trophies. Without the generous grant from Power NI, the club would not have been able to provide such awards.”

Sarah Wallace, Club Secretary said: “The £300 grant from Power NI really helped the club with the purchase of medals and trophies awarded during our recent competition. We are a self-funded, non-profit, cross community organisation, ran by a small number of dedicated volunteers. Without the generous contributions from Power NI and other companies alike, the club simply could not function. The Helping Hands scheme is an excellent initiative and I know how much the young people appreciated the medals and trophies they received as a result of the grant.”
