Two Kuasa Badminton Club teams qualify for Junior National Finals in Milton Keynes

KUASA Badminton Club’s under-12 and under-14 teams have qualified to compete at the Junior National Badminton League finals.

The club, based at Notre Dame School in Derriford, reached the showpiece event at the National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes after success at a regional competition.

Devon Junior Badminton Association hosted a tournament at Torbay Leisure Centre, which was open to teams from clubs and schools around the county. Each team had to be made up of at least two girls and two boys and the competition was split into under-12, under-14 and under-16 age groups.

Kuasa came out on top in both the under-12 and under-14 categories and so secured spots at the national finals, which will be held on the weekend of May 12-13.

The club say they are looking forward to competing against teams from across the country.

Kuasa joined forces with Plymouth High School for Girls for their under-14 and under-16 teams and hope the collaboration can continue as the Junior Badminton League competition grows in size in Devon.

It is also planned that South East Cornwall will hold a similar event next year.

Melody Valentine, Roxy Davies, Isaac Jackson and Daniel Cooper made up Kuasa’s successful under-12 side, while Juliette Thomas, Maddie Lister, Liam Payn and Joson Mathew were part of the under-14 winning team.
