Plymouth divers impress at English Schools’ Championships in London

Life CentrePLYMOUTH divers impressed at the English Schools’ National Championships in London on Sunday.

Competing for the South West team, city-based athletes returned with six medals and an overall third place.

There were gold medals for Zachery Anderson and Alfie Brown.

Anderson won the primary boys’ competition, finishing with 145.55 points. In the same event, his team-mate Euan McCabe took bronze with 137.95.

Brown took the intermediate boys’ title, finishing with an impressive total of 282.90 points. His team-mates Aidan Heslop and Connor West were fifth and ninth, respectively, in the same event.

There was a silver for Kayleigh Sinclair in the senior girls’ competition. She finished just behind the North East’s Sarah Leach.

Summer Radcliffe claimed two bronze medals. She took third in the junior girls’ individual event with 174.55 points and then also made the podium in the primary/junior mixed synchro event with Alfie Westerman.

Olivia Hall could not have come closer to an individual medal. She finished fourth in the primary girls’ event, where Katie Martin and Lucy Gutierrez-Freeman also claimed top nine finishes.

The full South West team which took third place behind London and the East was: Olivia Hall, Katie Martin, Lucy Gutierrez-Freeman, Zachery Anderson, Euan McCabe, Joshua Williams, Summer Radcliffe, Millie Ayres, Megan Ansell, Alfie Westerman, Josh Freeman, Quinn Shaw, Chrisman Clark, Abby Fishleigh, Evie McCabe, Alfie Brown, Connor West, Aidan Heslop, Kayleigh Sinclair, Aimee Fishleigh, Alice Burdett, Harry Mason, Morgan Boyd and Calvin Krimmelbein.
