From the league:

Does your child(ren) love to inline skate? If they do, chances are they’d love to play roller hockey. Even if your child barely knows how to skate he/she will learn some fundamentals of both skating and hockey skills.

Registration for our Fall 2021 season opens on June 13. Take advantage of our early-bird discount by registering before July 2. Visit our website at www.greenbrookhockeyclub.com Contact us with any questions at greenbrookhockeyclub@gmail.com

The Green Brook Hockey Club (GBHC) is a non-profit recreational inline roller hockey league. Our league was established in 1999 and has been running successfully for 20 years. The rink is located behind the Green Brook Middle School on Jefferson Avenue in Green Brook, NJ. We accept registrations from any town in the state of New Jersey. Our league consists of kids from as far away as Phillipsburg and Hoboken!

We are a fun, well run, and highly regarded league. Our seasons are action-packed with activities that include Opening Day Parade, Family Skate Night, All-Star Games, Skills and Goalie clinics, and End-of-season Playoffs for all divisions.

Our league is open to boys and girls aged 5 through 17. Some of our best players in the league are girls, so if you know any girls who may be interested, by all means tell them our league will be a fun experience for them.

All skill levels are accepted in our league. Many of our coaches can tell a lot of great stories of progress with so many of our kids in the league over the last couple of years!! So if your child is a beginner in either skating or hockey, this is a great place to start!!

How it works: Players are assigned to teams in their age group and play a regular season and playoff schedule. We play two seasons each year, Spring (March-June) and Fall (September-November). Games usually begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The kids are broken into divisions by skill and then age. Our older, more skilled divisions play on Sundays and our younger, learning-phase divisions play on Saturday. Our Learn to Play division plays each Saturday at 10:30 a.m. for approximately one hour.

Older divisions’ practices take place during the week in a 5:30, 6:30 or 7:30 p.m. timeslot.

Each of our games consists of three thirteen-minute periods (fifteen for our oldest division) with a 1-2 minute break in between periods.

For a list of equipment that is required for our players, check our FAQ page on our website for more information. Also, please check our sponsor list to find some great hockey shops that can provide you with all your inline hockey equipment needs.

You will be happy to know that the game of inline hockey is non-checking. While incidental contact may occur, deliberate body checking is not permitted and our referees will penalize any such actions. Safety is one of our priorities and all of our coaches and referees have received training in the Heads Up! concussion program provided by the Center on Disease Control and Prevention as well as the Rutgers Safety Course for coaches.

Parents are encouraged to volunteer for various league activities such as coaching, assistant coaching, promotional activities, concession stand, rink maintenance, and other things to help our league grow and, at the same time, be a rewarding experience for our kids.

Like most recreational sports programs, we ask our parents to pay a small work bond fee, which is included in your registration costs. A great way to fulfill your work bond requirement is to sign up for volunteer work at the Snack Shack or by assisting with rink maintenance and cleanup. Maintenance and clean-up tasks may include sweeping leaves, drying the rink, emptying trash and recycling containers, and other tasks needed to help get our rink in playing condition. Be sure to ask about scheduled clean-up days that may take place before and after the season. Fulfillment of your work bond is quite simple with us and your fee will be credited to your account for you to apply next season.

We look forward to meeting you and hope you sign your child up for our Fall 2021 season!
