Pacific Softball 2028 Signing Class

Softball Welcomes Seven to Class of 2028

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Pacific softball team welcomed seven new additions to the program after the most recent signing period. Four signed in the month of November, while three more future Tigers joined in December to round out Pacific's 2028 signing class.
 
Presley Barnes (Oakdale, Calif./Oakdale HS), Alexa Lewis (Elk Grove, Calif./Pleasant Grove HS), Alyssa Garcia (Stockton, Calif./Saint Mary's HS) and Peyton Clifford (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral HS) joined the Tigers through the first month of the signing period.
 
Incoming freshman catcher Presley Barnes joins the Tigers from Oakdale, Calif. She earned honor roll at Oakdale HS through three years and will graduate in the top third of her class. On the field, she's gone for a .481 batting average with 65 RBIs and 8 HRs. With 173 appearances at the plate, Barnes also recorded a .784 SLG, 1.302 OPS and  only 15Ks over the current duration of her high school career.
 
She earned first team all-league in her junior season, ranking 69 in California and in the top-9 in San Joaquin. Barnes ranks first in VOL in home runs, while helping her team win the VOL championship in 2022. Also in 2022, she, along with her travel team, won the Alliance National Championship. She was named to the all-tournament team with the effort. 
 
Also new to the squad is pitcher Alexa Lewis from up the road in Elk Grove, Calif. She competes along with her travel team, LTG Henderson. Through three years of varsity action, she's appeared in 40 games. As a junior, she's earned a 1.18 ERA and 82 Ks winning eight games in 59.1 IP. Through her efforts in her junior season, she was named 2nd All-League.
 
Alyssa Garcia comes in as a Stockton native and a graduate of Saint Mary's. The incoming shortstop/third baseman earned first team honors in her junior season, also being named to the All-Sac-Joaquin Section team. She led the league in batting average (.500) and also in homeruns. Her efforts helped lead her team to the third round of the playoffs in the 2022-23 season. In the classroom, Garcia has earned academic honors all three years.
 
The lone out of state signee hails from Scottsdale, Ariz. Shortstop/catcher Peyton Clifford has played four years on her high school varsity team, while also playing two years of varsity basketball. She batted .418 her junior year and fielded .960. Her performance landed her on the All-City and All-State lists her junior year, while also receiving recognition on the 2nd team her sophomore season.
 
Pacific's softball team added three more players to its latest signing class in the month of December, adding utility/catcher Jayleen Scott (Santa Ana, Calif./Mater Dei HS), pitcher Kiley Shea (Folsom, Calif./St. Francis HS) and catcher/shortstop Makana Cheatham (Torrance, Calif./North Torrance HS).
 
Scott, a Santa Ana native, joins the Tigers after four years at Mater Dei HS, where she earned multiple first honors recognition for a GPA between 3.5-3.99 and the principal's honor roll list in 2023. 
 
On the field, the catcher was named to the Trinity League's second team in 2022 along with a Defensive Player of the Year honor. In 2023, she was named to the Trinity League first team and MVP of the year.
 
She helped guide her team to back to back Trinity League championships in 2020 and 2021, while also placing 5th at the Alliance National Championship. She has a .465 batting average and pop time of 1.869 seconds.
 
Shea hails from Folsom, Calif. She'll attend Pacific after attending both Folsom HS and St. Francis HS, achieving her dream of playing softball at the collegiate level. Her combined stats with both her high school and travel team boast a 2.6 ERA, 1.32 WHIP through 1,057 IP.
 
The pitcher was named Second Team all-league as a junior and also earned the MVP honor during the Stephanie Ledoux tournament. She led her team to the PGF Nationals, pitching seven games, earning seven wins in the PGF qualifier. 
 
Rounding out the seven newest Tigers is catcher/shortstop Makana Cheatham, from Torrance, Calif. A three-time honor roll student at North Torrance HS, Cheatham has earned two Defensive Player of the Year recognitions, her sophomore year at shortstop and subsequent junior year at catcher. 
 
"We are extremely excited about this class of 2024! They will bring a wealth of talent and versatility to our program," head coach Brian Kolze shared, "The two pitchers will make an impact immediately. All the position players will also make an immediate impact and all of them can help us at more than one position. Our depth, competitiveness and versatility has been enhanced tremendously with this signing class."
