                    End 6. The jack is pushed towards the box but
              Ron finds it and David pushes in a second in his at-
              tempt to get close Barton take 2 more shots. 8-2.  End
              7. Ron draws shot but Leslie is a bit tight and clips the
              jack to Toddington. David draws in and falls on the jack,
              pinching it between black and brown to make a dead

                    Neil then eases the brown off to take two shots
              and a 10-2 lead.  End 8. Toddington hold four as David pushes the nearest Barton wood away,
              Neil cuts it to one and then with his final bowl knocks jack to his back wood for a single and
              to take match 11-2. Well done to Barton on defending their title and to everyone for a fabulous
              days bowling

                                   Rayne Charity Fours
                                    Rayne Charity Fours
                                   Rayne Carpet Bowls Club held their Charity Fours Competition with all
                                   monies raised during the day going to Alzheimer's/Dementia. 15 teams
                                   took part all playing four games in the Group stages with the two best
                                   group winners playing in the Final.
                                         Two teams won all four Group matches each and contested the
                                   Final. Great Hallingbury - Pat Kelly, Nigel Bentley, Alec & Enid Russell;
                                   Highwoods - Marilyn & Martin Bennet, Diane & Peter Orrin. A close game
            saw Great Hallingbury get the better of the early stages and despite a late rally Highwoods could
            not catch up.  Well done to Great Hallingbury and all teams who took part Thanks must go to
            the entire Rayne team who did so much to organise another special day with monies raised for
            such a good cause.

            The Final was played on a two-legged basis with White Notley playing Roxwell, Both clubs
            winning their home games 8-0 but in the end the worthy winners were, Roxwell gaining 20
            more shots than White Notley - thanks to Scott Gailer for again organising this competition.
            Inter League Match
             Inter League Match
            The six Essex leagues were invited to bring a representative team of six rinks (24 players each)
            to the Annual Inter League match which took place at Braintree Leisure Centre. East League
            were unable to field a team and the competition was played between the other five leagues,
            with all Rinks playing four matches during the day.
             As normal the match was highly competitive and a close finish was seen. The Final result saw
            Chelmsford West League take the title this year. Many thanks to Duncan & Alec for their hard
            work in running the competition and to Val & Anthea for running the raffle.
                                 1st Chelmsford West League - 31 points
                                 2nd Colchester East League - 29 points
                                 3rd Colchester West League - 26 points
                                 4th North West League          - 25 points
                                 5th Chelmsford East League -  9 points
