Well done all who shot on what was a lovely, sunny day right up to the end of prizegiving when the heavens opened as we went to the car park and I for one ended up soaking wet!

While we were over the field Phillip Dunn was shooting at the County Field Championships and he came away with the County Comp Champion and Team trophies, well done.

It was a pleasant day for shooting as 6 members of Oakfield Archers competed at the Abbey Bowmen shoot in Noak Hill.

Meanwhile a small group of club members had an enjoyable day shooting at the club.

Today my sons said they were taking me out and on the way Robin suggested we pop to the club to see how the shoot was going. What a lovely surprise, as well as current club members there were some I hadn’t seen for years and people who knew my Tony from archery. Christine had suggested that the planned club shoot be named in honour of Tony who died in January and at the end of shooting the archers stood on the shooting line and loosed a 1 arrow salute to him.
A new trophy has been set up in Tony’s name and the winner is calculated on handicap which was something in which Tony strongly believed to give a chance to all archers.
There is also a wooden bench with a memorial plate dedicated to Tony.

Then we had a fantastic buffet and chance to socialise.

It was a lovely afternoon and many thanks to Christine and all who helped her.

I had an enjoyable day at the London Youth Games Archery which this year was staged in Noak Hill instead of Crystal Palace.
I didn’t have a full team so obviously we didn’t win but we gained points for the Borough: Jake Pentland and Ayaz Zaman didn’t have a great day but Kaitlin Lovell improved on her personal best by 100+ points. Jake won the Worst White prize.
My thanks to all the parents for their help and support.

Before the shoot started a junior boy Longbow archer shot an arrow high in the air as a salute in memory of my husband Tony which was nice gesture.
