Is Westbrook going to wow you with food, drinks, atmosphere, and style? Highly unlikely for the Insta era crowd, but for people who are there to bowl, it's easily 5 stars, and one of our favorite places to frequent for league and practice. Since bowling is our primary reason for going, 5 stars it is!
The equipment isn't the latest and greatest, but the lanes are taken care of and the staff are quick to fix any issues that come up, and it's a really affordable way to spend the time (especially if you have league bowler pricing...so feel free to join a league!).
The front desk staff has always been outgoing and friendly; becoming even more so as the staff have quickly recognized us as repeat/regular customers.
Leagues are great and run well. A far cry from how leagues are run at our previous bowling alleys in Philadelphia. There are leagues for bowlers of every level, from extremely serious sanctioned leagues to really fun beer leagues.
I don't drink when I go to Westbrook because I'm typically driving, but they do have a full bar with TV's (as well as TV's near each lane). I've never eaten Big Swerve's BBQ but there's a pop-up there (with mixed reviews from those I know who've tried it). Otherwise, you're looking at soft drinks and snacks from the vending machines that are always available.
Another big reason to check out Westbrook is Big Jim's Pro Shop. Jim is really friendly, and is highly respected. The shop is almost always busy, crowded with folks getting new balls or regulars just hanging out and talking. The prices are more than fair and the drilling is exceptional.
Just beware that it's a legit bowling alley focused on the game. Which means that even if there are 42 lanes, you might want to check ahead of time for availability. It's not uncommon to show up and encounter leagues or high school teams competing on the weekdays or run into a tournament on the weekends. If you can slip in during the weekday hours, it's a nice chill place.
We're just glad we finally found an alley that we really enjoy with a great pro shop, good conditions, friendly staff, and fair pricing. We definitely recommend it!Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 4, 2023
I really like this place a lot and I don't know why. Our hall return wouldn't return my ball after the first throw we had to use a house ball on the second every single time. Our lane was so oily there was literally puddles of oil on the lanes. A pitcher of beer was expensive and the bumpers for the kids were manual. The house balls were barely round and the technology here is 30 years behind. Service was super slow and the beer tasted a little off. For some reason I still really enjoyed this place. I think the old school feeling of being in a place that was sorta like a time capsule. Great place to take the little guy to for bowling but I think adults who actually want to compete agains each other may want to go else where. I can't explain it but there is something special about this place.

I went with my siblings here for a night out after being in a funk due to our relative passing away recently. We all entered although it smelled like feet when you first entered and we assumed this is probably going to suck, we still proceeded to enter and got our lane. I say all of this to say that we have a great time, music was so amazing the workers were so nice, the other people was nice and it was fairly priced.

OLD. Kinda sketchy exterior, but the people were friendly enough.
Came here because we have the family/toddler bowling pass thing, so we get 2 free games a day, and decided to bring our daughter so she could get out of the house. We came and it was an absolute ghost town inside; dark, kinda seedy. We were greeted by a worker that got us started and sent us on our way. (Shoe rental $5 a piece.)
The lane was what you'd expect from the kind of place I just described. Everything worked, but it was completely no frills. Even the little toddler bowling guide/ramp thing was made out of wood, and looked like someones grandfather crafted it back during the war. The screens were no frills, 8 bit Atari level monstrosities. The balls were abysmal; chips, chunks missing, etc, but that's to be expected with the amount of abuse those things take.
We played our quick two games and got out of dodge. I'm sure we'll be back, if only to get some use out of our bowling passes, and really, there was nothing about this place that would make me AVOID it, but there ARE much nicer places to bowl, with newer equipment and amenities.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2 - Scott B.Chesilhurst, NJ61210Aug 13, 2023
Nice little simple bowling alley. Very fair priced compared to Bowlero. I called ahead of time to reserve a few lanes for a party. Very informative and helpful. Pizza was ok, about dominos level but that's about to be expected at a bowling alley. Didn't have a bad time at all and it was a nice place to check out. If you're in the area and need a bowling fix I'd definitely recommend it!

Three stars are for the activity of bowling, which was really fun, but bowling always is. In terms of the rest of the place itself, it was alright. The parking lot is huge and was absolutely packed on a Saturday night, which makes sense. We were expecting an extreme wait but it was really only about twenty minutes.
The lanes are your average lanes, nothing fancy but nothing messed up either. I'm not a professional bowler or anything so I wasn't sure what to look for, but I did hear someone in a nearby group complaining that there was too much oil on the lanes. They can pack a lot of people into this place, and it was definitely crowded, but not like you're tripping on the groups around you (much). They didn't have enough shoes in the larger sizes. They also don't accept Discover cards for some reason.
At 10:00 the place was a mix of teenagers, young adults, and a few families. Didn't try much of the food besides a soft pretzel, which was pretty mediocre, and we had to wait a really long time for someone to come to the food counter. Maybe the little bar/lounge area is better, but we didn't go in there.
We ended up here because the other nearby lanes had two+ hour waits, and this place was available, so I have to give them credit for that. But I think I'd try again to get into a different bowling alley before I make a trip back to this one again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jaime W.Northfield, NJ01212Feb 19, 2023

Service desk is poor. Sept 17th we called to see if any lanes are available and was told no lanes would be available till 9:39/10pm. Why my husband drove by and notices there were plenty of empty lanes. So he went inside and got us our lanes. Now why did the girl lie on the phone and said no lanes were available I have no clue. But that is poor business and she costed them $$ this night.

This place is a real hidden gem! Based on the reviews here and their online $10 coupon offer, my husband and I drove 45 minutes there from our vacation spot. We paid only $20 for both of us to bowl for 2 hours and that included shoe rentals. That's an unbelievable value! Do you how many games can be played in 2 hours? A lot! When we visited mid-week, there were only one or two other players besides us and they were situated several lanes away from us. I highly recommend this place. It has an easygoing vibe, plenty of bowling balls and well maintained lane equipment.

just left the alley without having bowed... waited at the counter for ten minutes while the counter person was on the phone , then took anther ten minutes to give the next person a lane. Finaly asked if she could help us, I said " one lane for one hour " She then went to the other side of the counter and started giving out bowling shoes to a group of twenty kids. We then walked out...
