Southern Railway Taphouse

Loved the outdoor seating on a beautiful spring evening with live music. Had decent options for vegetarians which has been a struggle for us downtown. My husband had the burger and fries which was yummy and well seasoned. I had the sweet potato and spinach panini. Also yummy. Loved the fried cheesecake to top it off. The server was very attentive to us and offered a sample of my drink when I wasn't sure which to try.

The atmosphere here is fun, warm, and inviting. The service was really quick, and I enjoyed our experience here. The food however, is just okay. There was nothing to ride home about in most dishes, although the goat cheese dip shone above the others. The food was not the biggest draw though.

If I was reviewing the Happy Hour experience, this would be the easiest five star review. We each got two drinks and split four apps, and walked out with a ~$45 check with a nice tip included. Unbeatable value bumps this up to four stars.

Honestly I don't know what to think. When we went in I didn't even think it was open. There were two people at the bar looked like on a working bar trip. Laptops and notes. Bartender standing behind bar reading a book. Other than that. Completely empty. I figured on a Sunday afternoon when playoff football was on it would be crowded. Asked the bartender about the ciders on menu. Wife is GF. Her response "I don't know it's on the draft list" and walked off. Ok. No help there. Asked about a blonde ale. Again. "I have no idea but it should be on the list". I would suggest you know something about the beers you're serving since you're a tap house. The whole time she stood behind bar reading a book. Need a drink. Have to wave her to get her attention. Pretty underwhelming over all. Fries were good. Might try again sometime but not in a hurry to get back.

I recently just discovered this place wow and I'm mad I have been missing out. Great happy hour specials that include discounted food items. My drink the up in smoke was refreshing. Just what I needed after work. The place is a nice size so it is never crowded and upstairs you can play games!

Pretty good beer menu, more cider options than a lot of RVA spots, which is odd since Virginia has so many cideries you'd think more places would take advantage, but I digress. I started with a sparkling Prosecco cider, it was yummy!!! Staff was helpful in narrowing down my options, I truly appreciate when staff is knowledable of their menu options. )Kudos to owner or manager for encouraging that!) Happy hour specials very good. They have a good cocktail menu, too.

Nice spot, nearby pay parking lot. Indoor and outdoor seating. do recommend it

THE OWNER IS THE WORST. Told me I couldn't go in because I'm wearing ripped jeans (I'm a guy) but there are girls walking in with skirts because there's "no dress code for women". Terrible place to go to in Richmond, VA. Better off going to a cemetery and having fun

Stopped in for a beer or two and tried to enjoy the view outside. Good selection of beer for sure, especially IPAs from in and out of the state. My partner got the wrong beer sent to her but I assumed she was ok with what came out anyways. We opted to sit outside but was told that dinner service was going to start soon and maybe miscommunication?? - but seemed like we only had 30 more minute allowed to sit out there.

Bathroom was pretty dirty, couldn't quite grasp what the theme or audience of this tap house was for.

Great food, great service, and a wonderful, dog-friendly atmosphere. Love the 40 beers on tap, love the food, love the outdoor seating, and love the bowls of ice water for the pups. Highly recommended! 5 Stars!

Went for happy hour (3-7) on a Friday afternoon. Food specials were great. They also offered many drinks on the Happy Hour menu. Bartenders (Don especially) were great with recommendations. Highly recommend
