After frost had scuppered our plans for a day at Haydock races, we needed an alternative venue for our Stag-do afternoon. Pool seemed a good bet and Rileys was the perfect venue; a little out of town, in a small shopping complex. Descending the stairs into a hive of activity, this Rileys was a bustling, busy place, mainly due to a high level darts competition going on, for the princely sum of £22000! An enclosed snooker room means competitions can take place in relative peace, away from the central area dominated by English and American pool tables, TVs streaming sport and a test of strength boxing arcade machine.

After all of us joined Rileys as members, we decided on an afternoon of American pool and a few light ales! The staff were efficient and friendly but with the darts competition going on as well, they were relentlessly busy. The beer was passable, so we decided to order some food, fast food allegedly, only took an hour+ to arrive! On a positive note it was cheap (£4) and the burger was tasty, the fries less so. A good afternoons entertainment, but perhaps they could have done with a few more staff.

great place for pool, 9 Ball and snooker. Not a great range of beers but its reasonable. Very cheap food which does the trick. Members only, but joining fee is reasonable and theres always special offers on. Make sure to book the Snooker tables though

There is no better place for pool in Chester. Rileys is amazing. It gets you away from all the kids and puts you right in the pool or snooker experience. The place is always clean, well cooled and offers amazing facilities. The pool and snooker tables are naturally kept in perfect condition and you'll never have the ugly experience of someone coming over to your table and putting a quid down. For the duration of the stay, your table is just that, your table. The lighting is great and you can get lovely cooled beverages and even fairly decent food bought to you. Being a member brings you great offers and i hear sky / setanta is being re-introduced after a brief absence from the venues. So this is great for those wanting to play with the mates without missing the other sports going on in the world.

This 'Pool Bar' is basically a members club for those interested in Snooker, Poker, American & British pool. Great amenities and serves bits of food as well to tide you over. Well over 20 tables plus unless you go at peak times you are nearly always guaranteed a table in my experience. Several poker tables and tournaments organized regularly. There is a large projected screen for music and sports events, many screens dotted around as well. Large jukebox from which you can select a track for 50p. Membership can range from £5 to £20 depending on what offer is on. Go on £10. Pay per hour for pool/snooker tables and there is a 'buy in' for the seat at the table. All stuff supplied like cues etc. Gambling machines also prevalent. Bar serves most beers & ciders. Open till late. Only thing that stops me giving it five stars is that there is -no- phone reception underground where it is located. Funnily enough there is a phone shop overhead. Ten minutes walk from the chester train station
