Q:
We used to be regulars there. But the bathroom used to be totally outdated and always filthy with mildews everywhere as if it has never been cleaned. With COVID-19, is it cleaned and sanitized now?
A:
The bathrooms are cleaned every day. If the bathroom needs attention, please notify the front desk on what isn’t clean and it will be addressed.

EastBay badminton is just another badminton area to get some games in. In my opinion they are nothing special. The girl in the front was pretty rude to our group. Upon arrival she mentioned we wouldn't be able to play unless we make a reservation online.. even when the gym was over half empty. We proceeded to ask if it was possible to do a drop in. She said we would need to make a reservation.. after a few minutes we asked if we could make a reservation for 1 hour and she mentioned if we wanted to play now, she would charge us for 1.5 hours worth of play (even when there was only 15m left on the last hour)
She then proceeded to mention we need shoes that don't have black bottoms. So she forced my friends to rent shoes. We are just casual players looking to play on the court.. so we just went with it, and we chose a court to our liking next to some gym weights.. in the middle of our game she tried to move us to another court because someone reserved the next court for some lessons.
Overall the gym isn't that spacious with about 8-10 courts. It's well ventilated so it doesn't stink. Parking is okay with street parking. Rates are okay at $50 an hour. Not my first pick for a badminton area. I give this 2 stars since we felt unwelcome.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Mar 2, 2022
Is this the only badminton court in the Eastbay?! I think so! I used to frequent the courts in South SF but I'm happy to know this place exists in Emeryville. You can book/reserve the court over the phone, online, in walk-in. Huge gym with multiple courts, rental gear, shuttlecocks for purchase, Band-Aids on hand at the counter for those blisters! They have it all. The one thing I was kinda shocked about is the price. $50/hr is steep, ouch! But we had a great time and definitely worked a sweat.

Yay, I've been here a couple years ago (when it was still GGBC) and was finally able to make time to come back this year!
Courts are still nice, clean, and shiney and so far this year not TOO full (despite having less courts and space than Bintang) so I was able to grab a court whenever I went. Norman the manager is super nice, honest, and gives me advice to get the best bang for my buck here. When I was just going to get a 5 dollar bundle he advised me to get another deal that equated to $6.70 per visit if I wanted to come more regularly.
People complain a lot about the "no black soles" policy but really, its just a policy to keep their facilities on the up and up. They don't care what other shoes you wear otherwise-- and they even have rentals for you to try. When my brother tried to buy shoes there they were super honest about how it's a better deal if we got them on sale etc.
I usually spend about 2-3 hours each time I come and I think it's well worth my time and money. I brought my HR monitor and discovered that I can burn up to 600 cals (and not even feel like I am exercising!) each time I play.
Great people and facility overall. I love that its pretty easy and convenient to park around here as well!

OH BTW! FYI, admission is going up to ~$10 after January 15th!! If you plan to go more frequently this year make sure to go and buy a promo deal! Buy 2 10-visit passes and get 5 visits free!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 9, 2015
Love it! Now my go to badminton place in the East Bay. It's a $9 admission fee, but if you come before 3 PM, it's $7. I arrived at around 4:30PM on a Thursday and the place was completely empty. Started filling up around 5:30-6PM.
There are eight courts at this facility. Very well maintained and well-lit. They have one bathroom for men and one bathroom for women with showers included. There is also a water fountain available.
Make sure not to wear black sole shoes. They will enforce it, but you can rent shoes for $5 (and you wonder how they keep the courts so well-maintained).
Parking: Free parking on Park Avenue and Sherwin Street. 2-hour parking on Hubbard Street.
Great facility overall. I will be back.Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Kyle Y.Orinda, CA5456223Aug 14, 2021
Great place to come and smash birdies and the courts are clean courts as well. Look for Norman here to book courts in advance and get some of that exercise in!

We used to have so much fun here. The prices were crazy reasonable, courts were clean, everything was great! It's been a few years and I was looking to come again tonight. I went on the website and saw it's $50 an hour now?? That's absolutely ridiculous. No wonder nobody goes here like they used to. Back then I would always hear people talk about this place but not anymore.

Hi Moo,
I’m sorry your experience was unsatisfactory. We are currently still in a pandemic and we limiting the amount of people allowed in our facility to maintain social distancing. The price you are quoting is for court rental, not per person. We allow up to 6 people per court, which makes it as low as $8.33 per person. Please understand that gym facilities have been hurt massively for over a year, so we are trying to maintain our customers health so we do not have to be shut down again. - K M.East Bay, CA1351Jun 19, 2021
This place is great place to play, but a few years ago, our tire was slashed while we parked on Hubbard St. We didn't see it until we got on the freeway. We had to stop & call for AAA emergency. Since then, we never went back. We wonder if that area is still a dangerous place to park. Is the management doing anything about the safety of the parking area?

Thank you for your review. Please feel free to drop by and get an updated experience of our business. Unfortunately we don’t have a private parking lot. We recommend keeping valuables out of view while parked.

Good spot to play badminton. Just don't take shoes with black soles.
One thing is they should have some kind of membership. 30 bucks for reserving a court is a bit too much on a daily basis.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Rachael C.Seattle, WA21986516Nov 20, 2016
I was a first timer of the place. The place was pretty clean. The staff was nice
1) drop in price is $10. You will need to renew / find another court every 20 minutes
2) the cheapest racket is around $26
3) racket rental is $10
3) they don't provide free water. It's $1 for a bottle of water
4) there was a training session in the late afternoon for both sat and sun. They used up to 4 courts.
Overall, I had pretty good experience.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Maggie W.South Berkeley, Berkeley, CA31429May 15, 2019
Fun place and just $10 admission fee, we hang out and play with frds for hours here . Sat can be a bit crowded but it's still available when you get in line, for each line about 20 mins wait. Not bad at all. We have been here a couple times already and love it.
