20 years ago I learned about candlepin bowling in Boston. At some point not long thereafter, I looked up how many different types of bowling there were and learned duckpin existed. But it wasn't near Boston, so I forgot about it. For 20 years. Until I was meeting a friend and looking for things to do near Danbury that would be fun, and this place came up. I couldn't say yes fast enough to the idea.
So over we went - I bought lunch, so my friend was buying duck pin. First off, it's way cheaper than bowling lanes, especially in the NYC area. Secondly... it's all duckpin. It's totally not regular bowling. You've never seen anything like this place. It's straight out of the 1950s, literally. The lane mechanics act that old to swipe away pins and reset them. The balls are tiny and you roll them down the lanes. We played 4 games and I lost all 4 miserably and I still love the lanes here. The owner was great fun to talk to, he was born in the 1950s and never grew out of it, just like my dad. He clearly loves the place. My friend did well enough that she's considering joining a league at the duckpin lanes down by her. So all in all, this was tremendous fun and I hope this place never changes or shuts down. Perfection in duck form!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - 1641631460Oct 18, 2020
The best place for duckpin bowling.
Great for kids.
They had tons of air purifiers here to clean the air.
Call before you go, because the hours aren't fixed since they don't have much traffic and will close if there's no business.
I hope they stay open forever because duckpin bowling is not that popular.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - R K.Mahwah, NJ066Aug 13, 2023
This place is amazing and you are guaranteed to have a blast and travel back in time. Jerry, the third generation owner, is just as excited to share his love of duck pin bowling with you. It is a clean, friendly, family environment and reasonably priced for a great time. There were 10 adults in our party and everyone laughed and enjoyed this new discovery. We drove an hour to get there and look forward to our next visit. Definitely a hidden gem.

Came here for the first time to try duck pin bowling and had a fun time.
Owners were nice and informed us they are usually busy between 1pm - 4pm and wait time could be an hour long.
Got here around 1:30pm and was able to get a lane quick for 5 people.
Very old fashioned and retro 50s bowling alley. It's not a very big place with 16 lanes, 6 inside for the party room and 10 outside.
This place gets busy esp for kids as the balls are much lighter than your standard bowling ball. It's about a 3 lb skee ball - they vary in diameter for grip. They charge by the hour, not by game...so no lolly dollying around. For 5 ppl, takes about an hour a game.
Not every expensive if you go with friends and split the cost per hour. Bring your own bowling shoes if you have them - they work for regular and duck pin bowling. Otherwise rental shoes are $1.50/pp. Pay attention the rules: Do not LOB the ball!
Scoring, clearing pins and pin reset are all manual! Great refresher for your math skills if you've been so reliant on the automatic scoring machines. LOL. Given we were doing duck pin bowling for the 1st time, you see a lot of gutters (they do have bumpers for the kids) and hearing us reminding each other "pedal" and "door bell, door bell". It was hilarious! Once you get the hang of the game, one can get a spares and strikes. It's definitely not easy but with practice one can do it successfully!
I can see why families and kids love it! We will be definitely be back again!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 16275718968Mar 27, 2018
Duckpin Bowling? Still a 10 pin bowling though the pins are shorter and smaller (stout) meanwhile the ball is smaller without any finger holes. The balls have different weights and can fit in one hand. Each player has 3 rolls per frame. In this location, each lane has to manually score (no automated scoring)...good time to use your brain power for strikes and spares. In addition, don't forget to manual step on the pedal to clear the lane of any downed pins and doorbell to reset the frame. Our lane neighbor advised us on what to do during our first outing.
This location have 16 lanes (6 lanes are in the party room in a private room). Watch your hand when the ball comes rolling back up. It has a force that can hurt your hand if you are not careful.
This place is very charming. It is a house with a lot of history and memorabilias. This is a family owned and operated place.
This is great for kids and families. Go try it out...so much fun!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kristyn A.Paramus, NJ734617Feb 26, 2022
Visited Danbury for a weekend and needed something to do on a Saturday and we came across this place. I didn't know duckpin bowling was a thing until today but it was a lot of fun! The customer service was great! There were a few technical issues with our bowling lane today but the issue was fixed relatively quickly. I would definitely come back. This place is worth a visit!

Tried Duckpin Bowling for the first time with friends. Arrived around 1:30pm and didn't have to wait. They have 16 lanes which 6 of them is located in a private party room. Rates are charged by the hour per lane. It may sound expensive but we have 5 people bowling for 2 hours and 2 games per person = $34. Still cheaper than regular bowling per game. Since it's charged by the hour, keep in mind that there is no bowling courtesy as everyone wants to bowl as much as they can.
Score is kept manually. After each roll, you have to step on the pedal to sweep the pins that got knocked down and press the door bell to reset a new rack of pins for the next bowler.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
