Horrible service and the most expensive in SoCal area. No membership, 14 bucks per entry. Leaking, floor damages, AC issues, you name it. I have been coming here for 4 years for both of badminton and table tennis cuz I had NO OTHER CHOICE. Now I finally found another place so bye bye

For $14/entry and no courts queue, save your money and time! I don't see a point in paying if there are no courts to play or waitlist. Literally you can easily spend an hour and nobody will free the courts or they're reserved. It truly sucks... :(
I love badminton and Arena is the closest place to play for me, but this club feels cliquish and sometimes I come, pay, and get to play barely a few minutes while groups hover the courts for hours ;(Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Tianzheng D.Phoenix, AZ01Feb 19, 2024
Didn't even post the event online for us to see. The front desk staff showed no patience and respect to who didn't pay to reserve

A bad experience
Choose this court carefully if you only want to pay 12 $for admission and don't want to pay $35 an hour for admission. Or you have to be careful that there's a lot of people or you might have people come up to you and tell you rules that you haven't heard before or rules that they don't follow themselves. Their Chinese manager there won't speak for you either. They won't listen to your explanation or even let you out.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Peter C.CA, CA041Dec 7, 2023
Horrible experience going there this morning/Thursday. My friend and I wasted at least 3 hrs time fighting heavy traffic back and forth from home to Pomona and not get to play at all due to their mistake not changing their hours on their website. The website says open from 8:30 am - 11:30 pm but when we arrived the place was completely closed and the hours read open starting at 2 pm.
Needless to say we both were disappointed and upset.
Called them up about an hour ago to speak to the manager but was told the mgr was not there.
Poor management and we are sorry we ever went there!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 17, 2022Updated review
There are no doubt badminton has become an expensive hobby ever since Covid happened. Badminton clubs don't offer annual memberships like they used to with the exception of SG1 ($200 + $6 entry fee each time) and LABC ($310, which I would consider the worst badminton club in the area).
New price for Arena as of 10-1-2022:
Entry Fee: $15
or
10x Entry Pass: $140
There are quite a bit of entitled people in the community. The most complaint is related to the AC during the summer. For the most part, the AC are always on at least for the courts near the entrance. And yes, you will still sweat a lot with the AC on but it makes it more bearable to play.
I guess the ones complaining have never tried playing at SG1 or LABC when it's in the 90°F. It's worse and guess what, they don't even have AC there! If it's too hot for you to play, just stay home until weather cools down!
The legitimate complaint would be that training takes two rows of courts in the afternoon until 7-8pm during the weekdays. This probably started happening 1-2 months ago and possibly one of the many reasons fewer players started coming here. At least it's not as packed for the rest of us who are still playing here!
Arena is the only public badminton club in this area that's closer for people who live as far as Eastvale, Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario or the ones close by such as Chino Hills or Diamond Bar.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 2, 2019Previous reviewExpensive compared to other badminton clubs...
These are the current prices for adults:
Entry Fee:
Arena (Pomona): $12
SG1 (El Monte): $9
LABC (El Monte): $9
Yan Long (Irwindale): $10
Annual Membership:
Arena: $499
SG1: $399
LABC: $310
Yan Long: $299 (Got mine for $199.99 with promotion)
Arena's ceilings are somewhat high like LABC. As a result, it is hard to hear the sound of your racket hitting the birdie. Some people rely on sound to determine if they are hitting hard and in the correct spot on the racket.
The floors are hard; not surprised to hear people complaining about their knees hurting at this club.
Then, there's all that extra stuff in the club such as a sauna...I doubt most people go to a badminton club to use a sauna. All these extra stuff might be nice to have but it shouldn't be the selling point.
Well, badminton clubs are popping up in many cities. Most recent one opened up in Santa Fe Springs. So if someone decides to open another new club in the Walnut area...it might be a good business opportunity. - Dante K.Chino Hills, CA07Jun 16, 2023
I usually don't even use yelp as I always believe reviews are getting more emotional as tech allows us to indulge more and more in cyber space. However, I really really need to address something here about this business.
I have been playing badminton and table tennis here for a whopping 4 years of time. I witnessed the transition of ownership, the Covid ,and the accident. First of all, they have the HIGHEST entry price among almost all badminton facilities in SoCal. Correct me if I'm wrong. They charge you 14-15 per entry and offer no membership options. I do understand that we should not comment on the way someone conduct his or her business nor on how they should devise their profit plan. But I do like to point out that you should always treat your customers right.
AC had always been a problem last summer. Let's hope the coming summer will be better. I slipped and fell when I play ping pong several months ago due to the poorly maintained and uneven flooring. No biggie since I main badminton and ping pong beside being a mid-high rated player. I was there last night and saw the ping pong flooring is still NOT fixed/repaired. Talked to some of the players there and was told it has been like that for more than a year. They tried to have the management fix it but were told the owner would soon convert that area to badminton courts, which never happened at least as of now.
Badminton is another mix of all sorts of feelings. The facilities are good but the entry fee repels me from playing 3 times a week. Again, this price opinion is based on my personal life experience and life style. I'm sure there are some of you out there who thinks it is totally fine to pay 2200 per year in order to play your favor court sport 3 times a week.
This is my first help review and I didn't expect to lengthen it like this. Thanks for reading.
We have no choice around this region as arena is the only badminton place covering Pomona/Chino/Eastvale/Ontario cities.Helpful 4Thanks 4Love this 0Oh no 0 - Albert T.Pomona, CA66144Sep 2, 2023
One of the nicer clubs and they keep the AC on. Front desk clerk is awesome and the players are pretty friendly.
