The Ladies seconds put another useful 3 points onto the table this week with an end to end thriller against Lansdown. Both teams fighting equally hard for possession, this clash has always been a closely fought contest. Bouyed with enthusiasm and self belief from last weeks victory, Lydney just had the edge this time. The Lansdown goalkeeper was busy throughout and made some tremendous saves to keep her team in the game. It was a sweet move out of midfield from Millie Chidley via Capt Lugg to allow Charlotte Purvis to slot the ball into the left corner that finally left her stranded.
The second half saw some strong defending from Lydney with around 3 million short corners including 2 after the final whistle. The Lansdown forwards were frustrated each time with some spectacular saves from Jennifer Howell and a save right on the line from Bridget Worth on the left post. The entire team put on their best performances so far this season with some perfect moves and clean passing making it a real joy to watch. This result puts the seconds in 6th place in Severn 1.
Man of the match choice was tricky but ended in a draw between the legend that is Debbie Legge and Megan Royle.
