Hop, skip and jump to Canary Wharf for free Easter activities

This bank holiday weekend Canary Wharf will host a number of free-to-attend activities for the whole family to enjoy, from colouring workshops to sporting sessions and a picnic wonderland, for an egg-celent Easter break.

Between Friday 29th March and Monday 1st April, Jubilee Park and Harbour Quay Gardens will be transformed with an array of picnic benches, deck chairs large and small, and giant garden games to add a spring to the step this Easter.

Parents looking for an afternoon of colouring galore can sign their little ones up to a free Kids’ Colouring Workshop, hosted by artist and illustrator Samme Snow. From budding Picasso’s to those who love to experiment with colour, children of all ages can join in and learn new colouring techniques that will spark imagination and creativity.

The free workshop will be taking place on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th March, 10am-4pm in Jubilee Place Mall. Sessions are encouraged to be pre-booked online, and walk-in spaces are also available.

With warmer weather forecasted for the weekend, picnickers can soak up some spring sun in the Wharf’s green open spaces while tucking into picnic treats from nearby spots such as Brick Lane Bagel Co, Ole & Steen, Seoul Bird and The Salad Kitchen, followed up with delicious desserts from Buns from Home, Badiani Gelato, Crosstown Doughnuts and Fuwa Fuwa.

For the sporting fans out there, In2Sports – the Wharf’s leading sports and leisure centre – will be hosting twoactivity-packed open day events on Friday 29th & Saturday 30th. Sport lovers can discover a wide range of new sports in sessions suitable for all ages and skill levels. These include basketball workshops with the London Bulls, karate sessions with Kabuto Kai Karate Club and a football and sports coordination workshop with a football expert with over 30 years of professional football club experience. In addition, fitness workouts will be available to parents and children to get the whole family stuck into some Easter fun together.

There will also be a chance to try out pickleball a combination of tennis, ping pong and badminton – currently the fastest growing sport in the US and expected to take the UK by storm as well. On top of the weekend long egg-stravaganza of activities and events, roast and brunch options are available to tuck into at Canary Wharf’s floating restaurant Hawksmoor, home of London’s best roast Blacklock, brunch favourite The Ivy in the Par andvegan favourite mallow. Other activities include touring the waters on a GoBoat, family fun at FlipOut, taking part in an immersive gaming experience at Platform and taking a look at the inclusive Paws on the Wharf exhibition (running from Monday 25th March), which aims to raise awareness for Guide Dogs, and makes up part of Canary Wharf’s free to visit outdoor public art collection.
