Hockey wins for Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Knole Park & K Sports

The first day of the hockey season took place on Saturday with all our local teams taking part.

Tunbridge Wells women’s 1s recorded a 4-0 win over travelling Canterbury 3rd in their South East Hockey Division 1 East opening match after just missing out on promotion last season.

Knole Park’s women replicated this feat with a 6-0 win over Camberley & Farnborough in the 1 West, whilst their 2s and new 3s also came away from the opening weekend with victories as well.

Sevenoaks women’s 1s drew 2-2 with Slough in England Hockey’s Division 1 South, and their 2s secured a 4-0 win on the road away at Bromley & Beckenham.

K Sports women’s 1s despatched Holcombe 4s 5-2 at Cobdown Sports & Social Club. Unfortunately, their 2s went down 8-0 away at Gillingham Anchorians 2s. Meanwhile Edenbridge women lost 5-0 in their opening match on the road at Herne Bay.

Over in the men’s game, Sevenoaks opened their England Hockey Division 1 South campaign with a well fought 2-2 draw away at Richmond, while their 2s and 3s also came away with wins beating Sittingbourne and Canterbury 5th respectively.

Tunbridge Wells successfully navigating a tricky away trip to Blackheath & Elthamians, winning 3-1. However, Knole Park’s men were not so lucky in their opening weekend with the 1s losing 1-3 at home to Holcombe 5th and their newly created 2s going down 5-0 away at Burnt Ash 7th.

K Sports also found the opening weekend rather tough, with just the one win from four teams playing.
