Netballers look forward to court return

WITH Come and Try days on offer from March 6 to 27, this year’s netball season doesn’t start until April 17 but registrations are now open at all four family-orientated clubs within the Parramatta Auburn Netball Association (PANA).

Representing Regents Park Netball Club, Newington Phoenix, The Holroyd Hotshots and Guildford Leagues Knights, PANA secretary Karen Bland says there are many girls and women raring to go after last year’s season was reduced to a spring competition among the clubs over Covid.
“Last year was very disappointing when we had to miss out on fresh air, friends and exercise,” she said.
“So everyone is looking forward to getting back on the court.”
If you want to keep fit, then netball is a really fun way to do that, according to Bland.
“You get a great cardiovascular workout,” she said.
“Being outside is good for your mental and physical health; you also develop awesome team cooperation skills through netball.
“I love seeing the confidence and leadership that children develop from participating in netball.”
Getting involved in netball can also open up opportunities to play at representative level or try your hand at coaching or umpiring.
Helping to cut costs, all PANA clubs are also registered providers for the Active Kids program with $100 vouchers available for each school-enrolled child.
