DREAMS ON ICE COMING UP THIS WEEKEND

The Crookston Figure Skating Club will put on its annual skating show this weekend – Dreams on Ice. Shows will be held Saturday and Sunday, but attendance is limited.

Head Coach Erica Uttermark said tickets will go on sale to the public after families have a chance to purchase them Thursday night. “This year, our theme is Nashville Nights,” said Uttermark. “So, taking a stroll down the streets of Nashville during the evening. Our shows will be Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. It will be limited to 250 guests per show. Families have had to pre-purchase their tickets, and we’ll continue that sale Thursday at 5 p.m. for the families of skaters that still need to purchase tickets. After that, it will be released to the public. We are going to livestream on both Saturday and Sunday. Thanks to Chris Fee and KROX, who will be livestreaming on Saturday. We will also be livestreaming (Sunday) and hope to have it on our Facebook Live and YouTube Channel. Links are on our Facebook (here) and website (here).”

The skaters in the show range from 2-18 years old. “This year, we have three seniors – Emily Funk, Savannah Meine, and Ella Weber – who have been with us since they were teeny boppers starting in moms, pops, & tots,” said Uttermark. “So, we’re excited to see what the future holds for them and sad to see them leaving the club as Savannah and Emily have been coaching for us the last couple of seasons. Our youngest skaters start at age two and go to 18. This year we are also excited to present Talia Hamre with her USFSA Gold Medalist Jacket and award, which is the highest honor you can receive from the United States Figure Skating Association for passing Moves in the Field. It’s a wide variety of skaters, and they’re excited that even though we’ve been through this COVID, they can perform for their family members this weekend.”

Hamre will become just the third CFSC member to earn a gold jacket. “So, far, we’ve had Aleece Durbin was our first gold medalist jacket,” said Uttermark. “Brianna Kressin was last year, and this year is Talia. Pretty awesome. That’s out of their own pocket of money and time and effort. You have to go to specific test sessions and get approved by the judges and referees for that. They’ve spent a lot of extra time and money. And thanks to their parents for all of that support as well, whether they’ve been skating here, Grand Forks, East Grand Forks, Bismarck, Moorhead, all of those different competitions and test sessions. And we have some other girls that are also working toward that gold medalist jacket as well right now.”

Flowers for the skaters are also still on sale. “If you’d like to purchase the flowers, Montagues and Crookston Floral still has their flower orders open and will be delivering to the arena,” said Uttermark. “I know there have been lots of grandparents, aunts, and uncles asking about that. A big shoutout to Cloud Nine Studios out of Fertile for their efforts to organize pictures and do our senior banner this year. It was something new and a great addition. We’d like to thank them as well as all the chair moms, coaches, and show committee who put in time and effort to make this a success every year.”

Uttermark will also be on Valley Talk Thursday at 10:40 a.m. to talk about Dreams on Ice.
