Send your questions to:hello@digitaldinos co uk hi carl and reece my company's website is nearly five years old, and i'm wondering whether it's time to update it.what would you suggest? regards wendythink of your website as a shop window - the more interesting and engaging it is the more people will want to 'come in' and browse By updating imagery and key messages on a regular basis, you'll be encouraging people to return to seek out further offers.themed displays can be an effective way of increasing traffic at peak times (christmas, easter, halloween). calls to action should be sufficiently appealing: 'click here for a 15% discount on your 1st order!' Here are a few other considerations: highlight what makes your business unique; couple this messaging with a strong visual identity to help visitors understand why they should purchase from you. analyse your website traffic to see which pages, links and images people are clicking on; delete any copy that doesn't motivate people to readison.your bounce rate high? this is a crucial metric to monitor, as if this figure is over 60% all content will need to be reviewed to identify the reasons why people are clicking away so soon! no one is interested in old news, so it's important to audit each webpage on a scheduled basis. out-of-date information won't just affect the profit margin - it will damage your brand's reputation for accuracy and professionalism. lastly, update the plug in, theme and core files on your website regularly (every week is advisable) to protect it from being hacked. good luck! the heart of hayling Boxing academy is proud to have been awarded the Queens award forvoluntary services following an extensive and in depth assessment by the deputy lord lieutenant of hampshire oliver crosthwaite-eyre earlier this is the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the uk, the award aims to recognize outstanding work by local volunteer groups to benefit their communities, being created in 2002 to celebrate the Queens golden Jubilee the academy is believed to be the only volunteer group from hayling island to receive this prestigious award and is a tribute to all the hard work of the coaches and support staff of the academy since its formation in 2018. not only do the coaches give their time to the boxing academy, but during the initial covid pandemic delivered over 16,000 medical prescriptions across the island over a period of 6 months. a summer literacy school was run during the pandemic to assist youngsters finding difficulty coping with the lockdown. the academy is a true community group that could not exist without the unstinting support of its trustees, the hayling community centre, local businesses including hayling print, hayling fruiterers, the hayling herald, the hayling trader, the lions club, Beach road garage, accountark, hayling Bookshop, Barretts engraving, mengham co-op, hayling community centre, Q shillingford of the heart of portsmouth, and countless individuals. all these organizations and individuals can be proud that their input has contributed to this recognition and they share in this Queens award forvoluntary service

a lovely sunny day in may saw half a dozen riders take a gentle ride to Bosham for morning coffee we started from the spring in central havant and rode out along the converted railway line, the 'Billy track' to emerge by the level crossing with the real railway and turned right along school lane to the level crossing at southleigh road.after a short while we were able to cross onto a shared pedestrian and cycle track beside the road all the way to the horndean road and then rejoin southleigh all the way through to westbourne this road is fairly light traffic and so westbourne village itself needs a bit of care because the parked cars on one side mean that most days traffic reduces to single file not really a problem but it enables us to admire the architecture if we have to stop passing through westbourne we turned into white chimney row with its half timbered houses and thatched roofs which make a lovely contrast from the more modern buildings around and made us feel we were really in the country, as indeed we were as soon as we turned the corner into old farm lane where this wooded lane runs parallel to the a27 riders could hear traffic seeming to come up behind us but our lane was empty the road flows on to woodmancote with the woodmancote arms, itself a popular destination for cyclists, opposite the unusual church constructed of corrugated iron and one of a series known as 'tin tabernacles'. we rode on past some undulations in the road known as 'switchback' after the nearby farm until at hambrook the south coast cycle route has a left and right junction. here, at the beginning of may there is often the smell of wild garlic growing in the verge, and a little further on wisteria hanging over a wall.then just after the string of edith cottages we turned right to see one of my favourite vistas of the open fields looking out towards west ashling, but carried on to cross the stream and join clay lane until we saw the sign for Bosham. a right turn into ratham lane leads down over the busy a27 to the railway crossing at Bosham station and the village crate at Broadbridge farm. the crate is a cafe formed from a couple of shipping containers cleverly converted. on this sunny sunday it was very busy with motorists, motorcyclists as well as cyclists, but we had our refreshments at a couple of tables together we took a direct route back along the a259 which may sound horrendous but peeled off to go home directly and another stopped at the farm shop for some watercress, then it was emsworth and the cycle underpass at warblington and back to school lane where we had started about two hours earlier, and all parted to go our separate ways. a pleasant ride in good company at an easy pace and wonderful sunshine. A Bike ride to Bosham from mike skiffins

By mike skiffins, portsmouth ctc cycle cliniccycle clinic my final summary of the changes to the highway code is about group riding .the rule concerned is no 66, and is of interest because motorists, and i am one, can get frustrated by a large group of cyclists 'blocking' what they see as 'their' road in truth, roads belong to all of us, pedestrians , cyclists, and motorists as well as freight and transport vehicles, too the old rule said that cyclists should never ride more than two abreast, and single file on narrow roads, among other exceptions.thenew rule is clearer and says what is true to all of us, that we need to be considerate of the needs of other road users when riding in groups.you can ride two abreast, and it goes on to explain that it can be safer to do so , particularly in larger groups which would take too long to overtake if they were strung out in single file, or when accompanying children or less experienced riders who are better by having an outside rider to protect them. groups should also be aware of drivers behind them and many clubs adopt the habit of the rider at the back calling out “car Back” to alert the rest of the group to allow vehicles to overtake by moving into single file or stopping at a lay-by or farm gate as soon as it is possibleasimilar shout of “car up” is sometimes called to alert fellow riders on narrow roads if there is an oncoming vehicle when any natural tendency for riders to have spread out needs to be reined in or 'tidied up'. our cartoon, borrowed again from cycling uk illustrates how a short, compact, group of cyclists is easier to pass than a long string, and also how a child is better safeguarded (and also controlled) by having an adult ridingevalongsideencyclists riding alone need to bear in mind other traffic, not only because of the code but for their own safety and to avoid annoying other roadifusers.theyare riding in the preferred position where they are easily visible to following traffic then they should move over to the left if faster traffic comes up behind them, but it adds 'if it you can do so safely' there are many reasons why it may not be safe, potholes and drains are the most obvious, but if the road is narrow or there is a traffic island in the middle of the road, then to 'encourage ' traffic to overtake just there may not be wise a car may be able to squeeze by but the wind caused by its passing can seriously unbalance even an experienced rider of course, just because the highway code has changed doesn't mean that everyone will comply overnight, but the fuss that has been caused by some people misinterpreting these rules mean that it has come much more to the public's attention than might otherwise have happened Highway code changes

Belcher Frost during covid-19, with lockdown and social distancing, getting wills witnessed proved a challenge witnessingwills remains an essential part of having a validwill. the rules, despite covid, remain unchanged and even the most carefully preparedwill will fail if the will signing and witnessing process has not been followed to the letter we now have a population where we are living longer but this means we are more likely to lose mental capacity or be vulnerable to fraud, undue influence or financial abuse where a was witnessed by a beneficiary’s meant that one of the deceased’s was a with a fully ensure that the needed create a have been observed that it been witnessed. on or go to for business I.T. solutions from a trusted partner that cares about mike locals ukrainians have found that after getting used to safe accommodation and starting to make new friends, their new guests want to explore the area a bit. maybe to do some shopping or get down to the beach or countryside of course, know that they left their own homes with only things they could carry, and transport is expensive, so ctc members were asked if anyone had a bike or two to spare a lot of us have older bikes that maybe were bought for children who have since outgrown them and they lurk at the back of the garage or shed. of course, most of the people who have been displaced are women and young Bikes for local access people, so the smaller bikes are often ideal. a bike that is just right for a six foot man isn't going to be any good for a smaller woman or teenage youngster not all of the people have been regular cyclists at home so a learner type bike can be best, and what is known as a 'step through' bike with no cross bar is ideal, allowing the rider to have both feet firmly on the ground before they start to ride and to get on and off easily, too thanks to wilf forrow of cycle hayling and hayling helps ukraine, who got the entry into the ctc weekly newsletter, several bikes were made available, together with pumps and suitable small tools, and a least one family has been equipped with the ability to get mobile in addition one of the bikes has a detachable basket on the front for any shopping or to carry provisions for a trip out.wilf and his 'customers' are all on hayling island which has plenty of coastline to enjoy, and hopefully the availability of wheeled transport will add a new dimension to living in a strange country. mention of a 'strange country ' brings up the aspect of traffic regulations and the highway code even regular riders in normal conditions in ukraine will find differences to uk, for example driving on the left will take a bit of getting used to i think they all have access to english teachers and there are several Bikeability trainers available, too, but the newcomers will need to have at least a basic understanding of english before the trainer can help them. i have found a Bike hire company who issue a suitable guidance sheet for hirers who are probably competent cyclists in their own country, so don't need a full blown training course, like Bikeability, so will arrange a translation to be made available if required.

what a day! team were super organised but nervous about the reintroduction of pit stops and driver changes.they absolutely smashed the pit changes with very little practise and nailed it every time race one:all three cars got off well, safely and pushed hard. keep up got off quickly and kept pushing and quickly moved up the ranks to the top 10. chase kept up the pace and was not far behind.we reintroduced our third car for the first time in three years due to covid.and it was going really well but a driver issue caused the car to have to run through the pit for an extra time so we lost some time there race two:we almost lost keep up when setting up the car with the new batteries ready for the race as a battery terminal was incorrectly fitted by a team member and caused our speed controller to melt and catch fire! luckily we saved the wiring and we had a spare speed controller so the team got to work.an efficient change and race ready again with 20 minutes spare again a great start by all and some quick places made up keep up was flying and zoomed off. chase and team spirit two were following closely with the driver issue sorted for race 2 which allowed team spirit to fulfil its potential. keep up got up to 1st place at one point but lost battery power quicker than expected. some investigation needed here maybe more damage caused by fire than we thought? race results!

On 1 April Alan Mak MP for Havant visited Park Community school to talk to Year 8 about local, national and international issues. His talk was interesting and engaging; he shared with the year group his background, his own experiences as a student and how he beat adversity to become a member of parliament. Students were given the opportunity to ask Alan questions at the end of the assembly, and a group joined him in the Dickinson Centre afterwards. Alan was very impressed with the range of excellent questions he was asked. Questions on Ukraine, cost of living, sewage dumping, nuisance off road bikes in Havant Thicket and homelessness were discussed. The group of students enjoyed engaging with Alan and gained a deeper knowledge of political matters. Mrs Lawrence

CPRE Hampshire Art Exhibition last call for artists

hello from your favourite out and about reporter at the cat and rabbit rescue centre, hulky Bear last month’s pet of the month the rabbit chocolate mousse is now reserved, i am excited for him to bond with his new girlfriend and go to his forever home very soon. last month a baby rabbit was found by a member of the public by the side of the road and brought to the centre. my staff knew straight away that something wasn’t right with her and luckily as she arrived on a day our vet was here she was able to be checked over straight away. she had a really bad head tilt, one of the worst my staff have seen.this meant that when she was sitting normally her head was almost horizontal. my staff were sure they knew what it was and the vet confirmed it, she had e. cuniculi. e. cuniculi is a parasite that mostly affects rabbits and although it is fairly common it can affect some rabbits much more than others.this little girl was only 10 weeks old and had already been through so much, the vet believed that it could have been passed down from her mother we are not sure why she was found on the side of the road but she could have been dumped due to her illness. the vet prescribed her medication but it can take a while to work and is not always successful even if she does survive the treatment may not cure her head tilt but it will hopefully improve it. my staff told me she is such a friendly rabbit who runs straight up to anyone who comes in her pen i have my paws crossed that she will make a good recovery you may have seen my staff were fundraising for mBu march, well last month work started on the mum and baby unit to improve the ventilation.the nice workman have now fitted all the pipes in through the pens that will bring the clean in and remove the old air we still have a little bit more fundraising to do in order to reach the target needed to complete the work, but all we need to do now is fit the unit that powers it all. hulky p.s please keep an eye on our website www.crrc.co.uk and our facebook page for all the latest news and info regarding rehoming and centre life.

this month we would love to introduce you to the very handsome guinea pig melon melon has now been waiting to find his forever home since december as his owner was moving house and couldn’t take him with them he is now just over a year old and would love to find a home with another male guinea pig he can bond with.he is a lovely, friendly boy who is very happy to be cuddled on a lap he can also be very chatty and loves to shout for his food melon would be well suited to any home and would happily live with children if you think you may be able to offer melon a loving home please give the centre a call on 01243 967111 or visit our website wwwcrrc coukmelon

The Burger: it’s time to try something a bit special – select cuts of beef that provide the most tasty and succulent burger you can ask your butcher for a 50/50 mix of short rib and chuck steak burger for great beefy flavour and a great texture duck Burgers with soy and spring onion –delicious served with plum sauce for a burger with a difference also chicken burgers made with chicken breast that you can marinade in Beautiful Burgers

A good burger is the ultimate crowd-pleaser, with the flexibility to keep everyone happy, garnished and sauced and stacked high with goodies. If you can cook it outside on the BBQ, it keeps the mess out of the kitchen, making it the ideal summer meal. yoghurt, roll in breadcrumbs and fry or bake until crunchy on the outside veg burgers – take a whole portobello mushroom, infused with balsamic vinegar and tamari soy sauce and grill until crisp on the outside and melting in the middle in the isle of wight they are growing incredible beef tomatoes which have so much flavour grilled or raw, alongside a generous slice of grilled haloumi, and you have an outstanding veggie burger that will even keep the meat-eaters happy The Sauce: you have to have mayo, and there’s a great choice of locally made mayos, starting with the garlic farm’s garlic mayo, or the condiment company’s delicious variety of mayonnaises, all made near west marden. ketchup? that tomato flavour is superb, but why not try a hot smoky tomato relish, made with chipotle peppers made by the real Jam and chutney company in the new forest? make your own BBQ sauce to get the sweet / spicy combination that works for you. a combination of ketchup, brown sugar, white wine vinegar, worcestershire sauce, then add the heat – mustard powder, smoked paprika and black pepper, and a bit of oil, cooked together in a pan, brought to the boil and then reduced to simmer for 5 minutes. Extras: smoked streaky bacon, slices of cheese, lettuce, tomato, avocado, crisped onions and pickles – take your pick or go for the lot, combined in a good white bun. as summer is approaching fast, we tend to think about the perfect drinks to have on those warm summer days. sauvignon Blanc is a winner throughout the year but during the warmer months its particularly popular due to its light, fresh, crisp characters. everywhere you go now you will see an abundance of wines made from the sauvignon Blanc grape and one country stands out from the most: new Zealand. during the 1990’s the grape variety became very popular, and the marlborough region was favoured due to the good drainage of its soil which encourages the vine to concentrate its flavours in lower yields.these low yields are what new Zealand wine growers’ favour i’m always telling customers that the same grape variety can taste completely different depending on where you are in the world and to me, sauvignon Blanc is the prime example to this. terroir (everything that affects the production of grapes, e.g., weather, location, soil etc) plays a huge part in the style of wine produced and as sauvignon Blanc is planted in many parts of the world, you will see a vast array of styles on the market. soil is very important, and the soils of the marlborough region tend to be quite sandy with a mix of slate this results in intense grassy characters with high levels of acidity and citrus characters. whereas sauvignon from the loire regions of touraine, sancerre and pouilly fume are altogether different. these wines tend to be softer with more pineapple fruit due to the limestone soil. in the pouilly fume region the topsoil adds a hint of ‘smokiness’ to the wine, hence the name.chilean sauvignon Blanc has become hugely popular due to their great value it’s the second most planted variety in chile and started to make a name for itself on the market during the 1980’s. here it’s all about the proximity of the pacific and the producers started to develop and push the cooler wine regions close by

implant surgery is a big decision, choosing amir to carry out the procedure was not. he and his team have always demonstrated the utmost professionalism and care, before, during and after my operations. following a serious motor cycle accident as a very young man, i have had much reconstructive work over the years and, quite simply put, amir stands out as the best dental surgeon i have ever had. “ after seeking recommendations,i made a decision to go to amir for my implants they healed wonderfully, and the colour match is perfect. no one knows i have them”

“…i had two implants done on the same day! no pain, just great looking teeth!” amir took me on as a 90 year old patient with five teeth and with a couple of ancient ill-fitting dentures. eating had become an uncomfortable and miserable process eventually amir advised the use of implants which were painlessly fitted and after several months of endless care and patience he produced a perfect fit for the new teeth.the transformation has been amazing as i can now again enjoy the simple pleasures of crunching an apple or chewing beefsteak. if you are recommended implants, struggle with the cost and go for it, you will never regret it, and you may be sure that amir will look after you very well” eric p

“…at first i was very unsure, despite my denture becoming very tiresome, but i gradually gained confidence after speaking to amir, and eventually had implants. i’ve had no problems and said goodbye to the denture” “it’s been five years since having my implants.i’m over the moon with the results as i can now eat and smile without the worry of wearing a denture”

“…well words can not suffice to recommend amir on the end results of my implants .over the whole procedure he explained the whole treatment plan and how long it was going to take the quality and care you receive from amir and his team is first class. now i have the perfect smile again.thank you amir and your team. ss
