Welcome to our supporters and the visitors, Builth Wells FC for one of the fixtures that players on both sides most look forward to in the league calendar After picking up a win against our opponents on Boxing Day, we know that they will be keen to get back on level terms and we are going to have to turn in a much improved performance than in recent weeks to get anything out of the game

Both teams come into tonight’s game following defeats on the weekend, Builth losing away to Llanuwchllyn after conceding late into injury time and we fell short in a a 3-1 loss away to Penycae.. There were very few positives to take out of the game from our perspective, but one was the return of Will Cleaton in midfield who had a fantastic game after a lengthy lay off

There have only been a handful of games this season in which the players desire and attitude has been called into question, but certainly on Saturday both were lacking in what was a flat performance We cannot afford for that to be the case tonight and if the players are honest with themselves they will all individually accept that they must do better and the mentality going into tonight’s game has to be to improve their own performance to put things right .

I have no reason to doubt that they will do so as we have been battling hard all season, quite often against the odds and achieving results when others may have doubted us All of the players who feature tonight have played a part in our successes this season and so they already know what it takes to turn things around We have nine league games left, seven of which are at home and we want to finish with as many points as possible, it is as simple as that.

Unfortunately we will be without Richard Powell for tonight’s game as he starts lambing season Rhys Davies, Fin Francis Cori Davies and Bob Kear are also out There will be a late fitness test on Kieran McCarley as he continues to suffer with the injury he picked up at Llanfair before Christmas

However in more positive news, we welcome back captain, Shaun Nicholls, Rob Nicholls and Jack Evans for tonight’s game. Zak Baker also came through Saturday’s game unscathed and it will be important to have him back and fit in the coming weeks with a busy March schedule along with Samed De Groot who is also making good progress following a recent hamstring injury

I hope that you all enjoy the game in a fixture that rarely disappoints and to our supporters, please get behind the boys and show your support, it may end up being the difference at the end of the night.

Llandrindod Wells FC was formed in November 1883, with five players from the Lewis family taking the field. In 189798 the club won the South Wales Junior Cup, with an exciting crop of players. One of the early stars was Jeff Jones who played for Llandrindod Wells from 1904-1906 before signing for Aston Villa, going on to win 3 caps for Wales. He then played for Northern Nomads before returning to play for Llandrindod Wells until the outbreak of WW1, where he joined the Medical Corps. In 1918 he was reported as missing in action but had been captured by the Germans and survived to live to the ripe old age of 90. Carl Robinson is another former player, who went on to play 52 times for Wales, as well as make over 300 league appearances for Wolves, Sunderland and Norwich.

OUR HISTORY

In the last 40 years Llandrindod Wells have played predominately in the Mid-Wales League apart from 5 seasons in the Cymru Alliance (Tier 2). During the 1960's, and arguably one of the most successful era's for the Club, we lifted the Mid Wales League on two occasions in 1961-62 & 1966-67 and finished runners up on two other occasions being 1962-63 and 1964-65. 1993-94 saw the Club finish runners up in the Mid-Wales League for a third time to win promotion to the Cymru Alliance, where they finished in 7th place in their first season. They played a further three seasons at this level before dropping back into the Mid -Wales League in 1997-98.

OUR HISTORY

2009/10 season saw Llandrindod win the Emrys Morgan Cup by beating Montgomery 1–0 in the final. The 2010–2011 season ended with cup success, defeating Hay St Marys to win the Radnorshire Cup at Builth Wells. This was backed up with another Radnorshire Cup Win at the end of the 2011/12 season defeating Knighton Town in the final at Presteigne. In 2012–2013, Llandrindod had a very good start to their Mid Wales League Division 2 campaign, going undefeated in the first 10 games, but the side fell away after Christmas and finished the season as runners up to eventual winners, Llanfair United. Both clubs were promoted to the Mid-Wales League Division 1 for the 2013–14 season.

The 2013–14 season was to be even better for Llandrindod when they won the first 16 games of the season This included an opening day 8–1 away win at local rivals Builth Wells and a further win away at Montgomery 13–0. The team went on to maintain their form enough over the season to win the Mid-Wales League Division 1, finishing with 22 wins and a draw out of 28 games. The team remained undefeated at home in the league, only dropping 2 points. The season culminated in a must-win last day victory over Montgomery Town with a 3–1 scoreline securing the league and in the process took the team to 101 goals, whilst also conceding just 27 goals Llandrindod Wells had won the league for the first time in 47 years Of t

6-0

A disappointing game from start to finish, losing 2 key players to injury early in the first half mixed with the worst penalty call I’ve ever seen in local football meant we were 3-0 down at the break. Builth deserved winners on the day, a lot to put right in our next game.

MEET THE RESSIES

1.

What's your most memorable moment playing for Llandrindod FC?

Scoring a screamer last season against Bow Street would be up there if we didn’t go on to lose that game 10-1, would probably have to be the bus trip back from Welshpool last season, some do Weeman or Sean Powell, I’ll go with Weeman though cause he’d pocket Sean.

2. Who's the best player you've played with?

3. You're stood in the Chip Shop looking up at the menu, what's your go to order?

Chips, curry sauce, fish, pineapple fritter. Salt and vinegar? Obviously.

4. If you could go for a pint with any celebrity, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Without a doubt Neil Warnock. National treasure, will need a state funeral when that bloke drops dead.

STU WILLIAMS

A dynamic left-back whose football journey began as a winger in 2010. Committed to the Spamen, Stuart's evolution on the field is a testament to his adaptability and dedication. His incredible pace and strength transform him into an unstoppable defensive force, while also making him a potent attacking option. Stuart's versatility adds a dynamic edge to our team, contributing both defensively and offensively with unwavering commitment.

Stuart is strong, powerful and utterly dependable at the back. A solid tackler who instills confidence in those playing around him, he often breaks forward, turning defence into attack. We know we will always get 110% from him.

2:30 pm - 19/08/2023 from The Broadway

What football team do you support?

Tottenham Hotspur

Is there a football player past or present you look up to?

No surprise being a spurs supporter I was a big fan of Gareth bale growing up

What motivates you to work hard?

To be a good role model for the younger lads coming though.

What is your proudest accomplishment with the club?

Helping the club reach promotion to the cymru alliance

What's the best piece of advice you've gained from your coaches?

Anyone can lose a match, but successful teams are made over the course of a long season. In other words it’s a marathon, not a sprint.
