The cinema room is definitely my favourite room in the house. We have seven reclining seats in there, a huge screen and surround sound, and just outside is a bar area and pool table so spending time up there is like having a proper night out.”

LOCATION Bulphan (pronounced ‘Bul-ven’) is a village in the borough of Thurrock in the East of England and one of the traditional Church of England parishes in Thurrock. Bulphan forms part of the Orsett ward of Thurrock Council, and is part of the South Basildon and East Thurrock parliamentary constituency. It is located 21 miles (34 km) east north-east of Charing Cross in London. The Upminster post town forms a long, thin protrusion eastward over the M25 motorway and the Great London boundary in order to include the village. The main features of Bulphan are the Village Hall, village shop and Park, St. Mary The Virgin Church and Bulphan Church of England Primary Academy. Members of Bulphan in Bloom work very hard to plant, weed, trim and tidy around the village, volunteers also run some of the many other organisations in the village, including the Community Cafe and Outreach Post Office in the Village Hall. For the little ones there is Toddler Club, for older ones Short Mat Bowls and for the ladies, there is Women’s Institute. There are around 20 other groups offering activities in the village hall or elsewhere. The village is fairly quiet despite being just off the A128, providing a safe environment very close to major urbanisation such as Lakeside Shopping Centre and Retail Park, Brentwood, Basildon, 10 minutes from the M25, 10 minutes from West Horndon Train Station, 15 minutes from Upminster Tube Station, 40 minutes from the centre of London, 30 minutes from Southend Airport and 40 minutes from Stansted and Gatwick Airports Nearby – just 2.1 miles away is the Dunton Hills family golf centre. The main course is an undulating course offering panoramic views over a wide area of Essex and London and is an excellent venue on which to play golf. Also in the area is Top Meadow golf course with restaurant and venue halls to hire. The area has an abundance of parks, and open green spaces a plenty for the country walker.
