Sports

By 2017, Sport England aims to offer every secondary school the opportunity to host a satellite community sports club on its site, with a direct link to a local sports club within the area. The objective is to help the local club to increase the number of 11 - 25 year olds taking part in sport for at least 30 minutes per week, as well as reduce the number of young people dropping out of sport. St Mary’s High School, in partnership with Russell Hoops Basketball Academy, provides a unique opportunity for girls aged 11+ to engage in a recreational basketball coaching programme. Students follow a personalised programme of specialist basketball coaching, accessing elite level coaching and specialist expertise in international standard facilities. They develop all aspects of their performance throughout the programme, including refinement of individual technique, strength and conditioning development and other aspects such as sports nutrition, psychology and sports related career progression.

The Tottenham & Enfield Boxing Club was formed in 1946 as the Enfield Boxing Club.

If you already have some experience in kayaking or canoeing, come and learn the skills required to become a competitor. This squad focuses on skills required for competing in, for example, Slalom, Marathon, Sprint and Polo Competitions.

It is a highly successful amateur club which has 21 carded boxers and was involved in over 80 bouts last season. Football training is also provided at the centre.

ISS Academy The Laura Trott Leisure Centre As of September The ISS Academy have made The Laura Trott Leisure Centre their new home for professional football coaching for ages 3 - 17. Inter Samba Soccer was set up in 2009 and has proved to be a success with many local boys and girls offered opportunities to develop with ISS and then onto professional clubs including Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham United and QPR. Young Carers Project Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm Carers in Hertfordshire Young Carers Project provides help, support, information and an annual programme of free trips and activities for young carers, to give them ‘time out’ from their caring role. The Old British School Trust The Old British School Trust of Cheshunt has funds available to help young people who are in need of financial assistance and who are resident in the ‘Ancient Parish of Cheshunt.’ The Old British School Trust is an officially registered educational charity. Each year, the Trust gives help to young people who are undertaking educational or vocational study and who are in need of financial help. Successful applicants receive a small grant towards the cost of, for example, books or equipment, musical instruments or ‘optional extras’ such as a field trip or visit. The course or study can be undertaken at school, college, university or through membership

of a youth group or other organisation such as Raleigh International. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be under the age of 25 and be resident in Cheshunt, Waltham Cross, Turnford or Goffs Oak.
