Halo Sparks going from strength to strength…

Hereford Sparks Gymnastics Club was established in 2006 following the closure of the very popular and successful Harlequins Gymnastics Club. What was once just a few pieces of equipment being erected and dismantled daily within Hereford Leisure Centre has been grown and developed with the strong support from Halo Leisure and a dedicated Committee Team working together to form a partnership in 2015. This resulted in our own purpose built gymnastics centre being built within Hereford Leisure Centre.

Roll on to 2020 and a new committee was born which has taken the club from strength to strength. A partnership arrangement has officially been signed and what has always been known as Hereford Sparks Gymnastics club has now evolved successfully into Halo Sparks Gymnastics Club. We are very proud of what we have managed to achieve following this new partnership and have goals to take the club even further. Our competitive side of the club has not only survived the covid pandemic but come out stronger. We have more competitive gymnasts than ever before and are reaping the rewards at recent competitions with 42 gymnasts from our club competing.

We entered the Gymnova Open Championships in the East Midlands towards the end of October and came away with many personal achievements such as new skills competed including Ella Bradley being the first ever gymnast from Herefordshire to compete a yurchenko vault, a massive achievement for gymnastics in Herefordshire. We also came away with a haul of medals and Ruby Eversham, a promising young talent won the title of Level 7 Champion for the East Midlands.

More recently on Sunday 7th November we hosted our first County Invitational Championships at Hereford Leisure Centre, a huge joint effort between the Sparks committee, Hereford Leisure Centre staff and a wonderful effort from parents, friends and family as volunteers for the day. We managed to raise £1,500 for the club and Halo Sparks Gymnastics Club claimed 5 out of the 6 County Titles up for grabs. It was a hugely successful day and wonderful to have so many happy gymnasts back doing what they love most after what has been a tough couple of years.

Coming up in December we are holding a whole week of Christmas Displays bringing together the whole club to celebrate all of our gymnasts and the hard work they put in.

We are reaching new heights at Halo Sparks and the next few years ahead are very exciting.
