Lahey Named to VolleyballMag.com’s Coaching Hotshots List

Lahey Helped Lead Marist to a 12-6 MAAC Record in her First Season

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Volleyball's assistant coach Kelsey Lahey was named to VolleyballMag.com's list of Under 40 Coaching Hotshots earlier this week.

Following the NCAA Tournament, VolleyballMag.com recognized some of the great coaches around the country, such as Stanford's Kevin Hambly and Wisconsin's Kelly Sheffield, who have been successful in leading their program's to either NCAA titles or NCAA semifinal appearances.

Then, they wondered, who are the next wave of coaches, under 40 years old, that might move into that elite level of coaching soon?

Lahey was recognized as a coach with this type of potential, being placed on this list of elite coaches which spans NCAA Division I women's volleyball, NCAA Division I-II men's volleyball, and NCAA beach volleyball.

"Since it is just my first year coaching collegiate volleyball, I feel lucky to have even been nominated for this list, let alone be selected to a list with such great company," Lahey said. "Sean Byron has truly been a great mentor and I am grateful to have him in my corner. I am excited to continue making an impact on Marist Volleyball for years to come."

Lahey, who finished her playing career at Marist sixth on the program's all-time kills list with 1,014, helped lead the Red Foxes to a 15-15 overall record this season, and a 12-6 record in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play. Marist defeated Niagara in the first round of the MAAC Championships, but then fell to eventual MAAC Champion Fairfield in the semifinals. Prior to this season, Lahey coached for two seasons as an assistant volleyball coach in Maumee, Ohio for the Premier Volleyball Academy.
