Crookston. They will compete in the USA College Clay Target League, which is launching competition this fall. The development of the Minnesota Crookston program and the USA College Clay Target League is due to a major growth in the sport nationwide and in Minnesota in recent years.

The Golden Eagles are led by Crookston-native Andy Gjersworld, who has been around the sport throughout his life, as he shot for the Crookston High School team, and has been assisting his father Darren Gjerswold with the Crookston High School team, where Darren is the head coach. In addition, Andy is being assisted by Minnesota Crookston student Mitch Gebhardt from Watkins, Minn., who has been a major aid to Gjerswold in the launch of the program.

The Golden Eagles were joined at their first full USA College Clay Target practice by Director of Athletics Stephanie Helgeson. Minnesota Crookston's trap shooting student-athletes were all excited and eager to get under way and thankful for the addition of trap as a club sport for the Golden Eagles.

Minnesota Crookston will practice and do all competitive trap shooting at the Crookston Gun Club located just off U.S. Highway 75 to the Northwest of the University of Minnesota Crookston campus.
