LEXINGTON, Va. - The Director of Athletic Training and Sports Performance, Josh Williamson, announced the addition of Javonna Lansdown to the Washington and Lee University's athletic training staff on Tuesday morning.

The department's newest assistant athletic trainer recently graduated from James Madison University's Masters of Athletic Training program and completed certification requirements this past spring.

While at JMU, Lansdown gained experience in both the secondary and collegiate clinical settings across a variety of sports including a stint at Bridgewater College for the most recent clinical rotation. With the Dukes, Landsown also served as an Athletic Training Program Student Ambassador and was an active member of the Madison Athletic Trainers' Student Association.

Prior to enrolling in the athletic training program with the Dukes, Lansdown earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and graduated in 2021.

"The health and safety of our student-athletes is critically important," Head Athletic Trainer Josh Williamson said.  "I am excited for the addition of Javonna to our athletic training staff.  Javonna's experiences as an undergraduate at CNU and a graduate student at JMU make her well prepared to aid our student-athletes through their collegiate athletic careers."

Lansdown is certified with American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED for professional rescuers, Mental Health First Aider, Board of Certification (BOC), and the state of Virginia. Lansdown is also a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association, and the Virginia Athletic Trainers' Association.

"I am grateful to begin my career at Washington and Lee," stated Lansdown. "I am excited to learn from a highly experienced sports medicine staff and work alongside them. I am also looking forward to helping student-athletes achieve their goals both on and off of the field and cultivating connections with the Generals' community"

Lansdown will begin her duties immediately and work directly with the Blue and White's field hockey team and the men's and women's cross country and track and field programs.
