Gateshead play their penultimate home game of the season on Tuesday, April 18 against Dorking Wanderers (7:45pm kick-off).
The Heed’s six-game winning streak in the National League was brought to an end at home to Bromley on Saturday, with the play-off chasers scoring three past Mike Williamson’s side.
That was Gateshead’s first defeat at The International Stadium in eight games in all competitions, since losing to Chesterfield on March 4.
Gateshead dropped to 16th in the league table, six points above the relegation zone with four games to play.
Owner and manager Marc White has guided Dorking Wanderers to 12 promotions in the last 24 years, and they look on course to remain in the National League for a second season.
Wanderers sit one place below Gateshead on the same number of points (52) having played an extra game.
White’s outfit have enjoyed a great run of form, winning five of their last six games and most recently beating Altrincham after going two goals behind.
From those six matches, leading frontman Jason Prior has scored six goals having returned to Meadowbank in February from Havant & Waterlooville.
Heed View
“You can see that they are on the front foot and like to attack games,” said Louis Storey.
“We’re expecting a similar sort of test, whether personnel will change from their previous game, we know what they’re about so we feel like we’re in a really good place to know what their strengths are and exploit what their weaknesses are going to be.”
Opposition View
“It was a really poor start,” commented Dorking manager Marc White after Saturday’s 3-2 win against Altrincham.
“There was nobody to blame but the players because we said don’t play backwards against a team that likes to press – it was really disappointing.
“We stayed in the game, the changes helped us, and we got the win which is what matters.”

Elliot Forbes, Kenton Richardson and Lewis Knight remain unavailable through injury, while Tom Allan and Will Harris have returned to light training.
Carl Magnay is set to serve the first game of his suspension after being sent off from the bench during Saturday’s game against Bromley.

Gateshead secured Vanarama National League safety with three games to spare following a goalless draw against Dorking Wanderers at Gateshead International Stadium.
It was very much attack against defence, with Dorking failing to test home goalkeeper Filip Marshall.
The opening chance went Gateshead’s way on four minutes when Adam Campbell’s shot was blocked, allowing Marcus Dinanga to take on possession and hit the side netting from a narrow angle.
There were several opportunities for Gateshead with crosses along the face of goal, most notably with Campbell on 11 minutes before Dinanga poked the rebound wide.
Dorking shot-stopper Dan Lincoln made an extraordinary save to keep the score level with 20 on the clock, with Ed Francis’ free-kick on the edge of the box looking destined for the top left corner.
Around the half-hour, Mike Williamson’s side kept the pressure on as Kamil Conteh and Ethan Pye unleashed efforts off target.
On the brink of half-time, Dorking failed to clear Stephen Wearne’s cross but Dinanga could only steer the loose ball wide from six yards out.
The second half was stale until The Heed almost netted the opener in frantic fashion on 65 minutes.
Greg Olley was set up by Campbell but Dorking keeper Lincoln blocked the shot low, before Dinanga’s rebound at point-blank range was stopped on the line by Bobby-Joe Taylor.
Moments later, Francis tried his luck from distance for the home side however Lincoln wasn’t fazed and caught easily.
Wearne was next to test Lincoln after playing a one-two inside the area but Gateshead were again denied by the Dorking number one.
Dorking tried to run the game down in the final stages, and Gateshead’s only opportunity to snatch a winner saw Francis sting a shot over the bar.
With Torquay United’s 5-1 defeat at Chesterfield, both clubs have now secured survival in the National League with 53 points.
