Eastover Park bowls club is a local sports club within easy reach of Bridgwater town centre. we play bowls throughout the summer season with league games on a Saturday & evening games on a Thursday. Along with various friendly matches inbetween which makes for a busy schedule!

Eastover Park Bowls Club is owned by the local council and therefore is not privately owned.

We welcome new members and will assist in every way possible in helping with learning the game and the etiquette involved. There will be regular practise sessions throughout the summer and anyone with flat soled trainers can play on the green.

There is a reliable team of volunteers who look after the maintenance of the green with regular green cutting and tidying up around the club. We hold an open Jubilee Triples competition in July where teams from all over Somerset play for a cash prize! Incidentally, this competition is one of the few in the County to offer this along with a meal and a huge raffle.

This is a picture of the overall winners of the Triples in July 2019. The winners were a team from Watchet Bowling club. The prizes were handed out by our then President Adrian Kunc. There are also prizes for the 2nd and 3rd placed teams.

This is our club badge which is situated on the left breast of the club shirts.

Our club was started in 1929 so it has over 90 years standing within the local community. 9 more years then it’ll be our centennial year!

This year we are updating our shirt colours. This will involve changing to authentic bowls shirts rather than plain polo shirts with a maroon/white & yellow piping design. This will bring the club up to date with current trends!

We have open groups on WhatsApp and Facebook and intend getting an instagram account to display pictures of our games throughout the season.

Upcoming events

Jubilee Triples competition – This years Jubilee Triples will be on July 31st

Note:

There is no pressure from the club for new members to comply with the dress codes when just starting to play bowls. The most important thing is to have a pair of flat soled trainers to start with. If you decide to take the game up then purchases of the club kit can be made. Obviously if you make the grade and become available for league games then full kit will be required.

When a home game is played at Cranleigh Gardens the bar is always open & the public will be able to use the facilities once signed into the club visitors book by a club member. The club survives with the members contributing towards helping with club duties. Everyone is encouraged to become involved for the benefit of the club.

  1. The Covid19 imposed shut down of all Bowls clubs has now been lifted. You can bowl at Eastover Park BC whilst observing social distancing rules. This Saturday the 25th July we are having a members roll up from 2pm. All members of the public are welcome to come along to watch or to have a practise. We hope to have the bar open as well.
