East London RFC’s ladies’ side the Vixens ended their 2022/23 season with an emphatic 7-63 victory away at Romford & Gidea Park Ladies on Sunday (16 April).

For the second match in a row, the Vixens scored 11 tries in total with left wing Whitney Bennet leading the way with four. The other scorers were two for outside centre Freya Challis and one each from prop Katie Walsh, hooker Katie Gemal, second row Marie Schaller, scrum-half Aoife Farrell and fly-half Lucy Thomas. Farrell kicked four conversions.

The victory sees the Vixens finish the season in fifth place in the Women’s National Challenge 1 East league table with 35 points from 14 matches. The team won seven and lost seven and scored 289 points in total and conceded 297.

There were 17 different try scorers over the season, scoring 50 in total, with 18 conversions and one penalty. Top try scorer was centre Freya Challis with 13.
