Guildford Ice Dance Club is pleased to announce the fourth annual Ice Dance Seminar. Providing approximately 2 hours of on-ice coaching, and 1.5 hours of off-ice training both with professional coaches at our Olympic sized rink. This year we're focusing on the Swing Dance and the Paso Doble.

Before taking to the ice, we will start with a short talk by a qualified personal trainer on looking after your body before and after skating, followed by an opportunity to put theory into practice with some off-ice warm up exercises.

On-ice we start with a coach-led warm up for all. We will then split into 2 separate groups, depending on which ice dance you wish to train on (see below for standards required).

One group will stay on the ice with our specialist Ice Dance coaches, Jo Gargano and James Lewis, whilst the other undertakes an off ice class concentrating on core strength and stability, before swapping over. Following feedback from previous seminars, each group will have use of the full ice rink whilst training on their dance.

Finally we will regroup on the ice with James and Jo to concentrate on the style and expression of different dance styles.

The seminar is Saturday 14th July 2018 from 15:30 to 20:15, and will include approximately 2hrs of coached ice time.

The seminar is open to anyone above Skate UK Level 7 or equivalent. We recommend that to take the Paso Doble class you should have knowledge of the dance steps and a minimum standard of Field Moves Level 2 or Pattern Dance Level 4. However, we appreciate that not everyone tests, so nobody will need to prove their level, rather the club will rely on skaters honestly appraising their ability and placing themselves appropriately to gain the most out of the session. If a member is unsure, a quiet word with James or Jo beforehand ought to assist the decision.

The Paso Doble class will be taught at silver/gold standard and if the coaches believe a skater will perform better in a different group, they have the right to amend the group listings on the day. Because of their experience, the coaches decision will be final.
