A mention of lunch before I carry on – same sort of pasta as the Waitrose fare the day before – but this time a Sainsbury’s fork! It lasted! Hooray! I also ate the very healthy Waitrose seed style flapjack, it was……… healthy! That’s the best thing I can say about it!
I am going to be totally honest before I start on the game – it was – not so good. In spite of a pretty decent scoreline.
I really am going to be brief with this one – and make it a Phlog – I know it’s not a word – but I do have some great photos from the game!
So, a few words and lots of photos it will be!
Hunslet Scored after 4 minutes with dual registered James Keinhorst touching down – Danny Ansell converted to add the 2.
Donccaster showed good determination in the 1st half and came back with their own try moments later, Richard Wilkinson scoring a try that wasn’t converted.
Jimmy Watson scored for Hunslet on 10 minutes, Ansell converted again but he failed to add the extras when Danny Maun scored 6 minutes later.
Another try by Doncaster’s Shaun Leaf went down as only 4 points – the accuracy of the kick really is as key in league as it is in union.
The teams went in at half time with the scores on – Doncaster 8 Hunslet 16.
Doncaster scored through Tom Hodson on 55 minutes – again no conversion – at that point they were still behind and it remained that way.
Danny Ansell kicked 2 penalties, Luke Briscoe added another try for Hunslet – Ansell missed the conversion but added a drop goal – Stevo would have been ecstatic I imagine!
The game finished on Doncaster 12 Hunslet Hawks 25 -the win still eludes Doncaster.

Thanks Dave! I hope my passion shines through.
I’d love to write a piece about the Festival, I’m at the Anniversary Games that day, but perhaps we could chat before the day? I can write something for In The Loose maybe
