Courtesy photo A lone Team Real Life wrestler made the trek to Redmond, Ore., recently to participate in the Oregon Wrestling Classic, joining over 800 other wrestlers from around the Northwest. To participate in the Classic, a wrestler must qualify by placing in the top three at one of several qualifying tournaments held the weekend prior in Oregon or the Idaho or Washington qualifiers. Rider Seguine, pictured, of Team Real Life went 6 and 1 and placed third at this year's Oregon Wrestling Classic.

Courtesy photo Three teen athletes from Crossfit Cd’A’s Heart & Barbell Club have qualified for the national junior weightlifting championships in Spokane Feb. 15-18. From left are Vince Russo, Tyler Carlock and Shay Carlock. Russo, 17, is dual-enrolled at Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy and North Idaho College. He competed at USA Weightlifting youth nationals in 2017, and was a 2017 Idaho state champion in the 62 kg weight class. He holds three state junior records in the 62 kg weight class — 99 kg clean and jerk, 74 kg snatch and 173 kg total. Shay Carlock, 17, is dual-enrolled at NIC and the STEM Academy in Rathdrum. She finished ninth at the 2017 Youth World Championships, has earned 12 national-level medals, is a two-time state champion, and currently holds 15 state records. Tyler Carlock, 15, attends Lakeland High. He finished fourth at 2017 youth nationals. He is a state champion and currently holds three state records. Shay Carlock coaches Tyler and Vince; Derek Hutchinson is another Crossfit coach.

Technique Gymnastics traveled to Kalispell, Mont., for the Glacier Challenge Competition on Jan. 20-21.

There were teams in attendance from Idaho, Montana, and Canada. The following are the results for our girls placing in the top 3 per event and all around.

Level 2s: Karlie Mosqueda was 3rd on Vault, 1st on Bars, Beam, Floor, and 1st All Around. Neva Mattison was 1st on Vault, 2nd on Beam, 3rd on Floor, and 3rd All Around. MaKenzie Labelle was 3rd on Beam. Madeleine Hoare was 2nd on Bars. The Level 2 Team brought home the Vault Champion and 2nd Place Team Award.

Level 3s: Khloe Martin was 3rd on Vault, 1st on Bars, Beam, Floor and 1st All Around. Kirsten Iames was 2nd on Vault, & 3rd on Bars. Elsa Laker was 1st on Vault, 1st on Beam, and 2nd All Around. Brooklynn Widmer was 3rd on Bars. Ava Nordberg was 3rd on Vault. Viviann Crebs was 3rd on Floor & 3rd All Around. Laila Gilbreath was 2nd on Beam. The Level 3 Team brought home the 3rd Place Team Award.

Level 5s: Naomi Fritts was 3rd on Vault, 3rd on Bars, and 2nd All Around. Dianna Bustillos was 3rd on Vault. Cadence Wurster was 2nd on Beam. The Level 5 team brought home the 2nd Place Team Award.

Xcel Silvers: Elyse Hemenway was 1st on Vault, 2nd on Beam, & Floor, and 1st All Around. Tatum Easterday was 3rd on Bars, 1st on Beam and 3rd All Around. Mackenzie Wyant was 3rd on Floor. The Silver Team brought home Vault Champions and 2nd place Team Award.

Xcel Golds: Amber Shoolroy was 1st on Bars and Beam, and 1st All Around. Kayla Nelson was 3rd on Beam, 1st on Floor, and 2nd All Around.

Xcel Platinum: Bethany Frey was 1st on Vault, Bars, Beam, 2nd on Floor, and 1st All Around. Mallory Okon was 1st on Vault, 2nd on Bars, 1st on Floor, and 2nd All Around. Natalie Brett was 3rd on Vault. The Platinum Team brought home Vault, Bar, Beam, & Floor Champions, and 1st place Team Award.
