Friday 10th March / Friday 17th March:

CERTIFICATES

Congratulations everyone. Lots of achievements in maths and writing this week. One lucky person received 4 certificates!

STEM CHALLENGE – Anderson Shelters

The classes had to plan and construct an Anderson shelter strong enough to withstand a heavy ball being dropped on it from a height. The task was not as easy as they first thought, many had problems successfully joining card together. We went through a lot of tape!

GARAGEBAND

It was great fun listening to and dancing to music from the 1940’s. We learned about Glenn Millar’s Big Band music and songs by Vera Lynn. We discussed the important role music played during that time. We had a go playing a tune using GarageBand and on the glockenspiels. We also enjoyed a wee boogie.

Netball

Primary 7 have been learning to play netball. We have been focussing on not moving while we have the ball, passing within 3 seconds and trying to get into good spaces for our team mates. We started learning the positions in netball and while we need more practice, we are learning pretty quickly.

Distance, Speed and Time

Over the last two weeks, primary 7 have been learning how to work out the speed, distance or time an object travelled using the triangle formula. Initially, we found this pretty tricky but after lots of practise the confidence of the class has really grown. Today we applied our knowledge through making paper aeroplanes and working out the speed they travelled. A big ‘Well Done!’ to Willow who had the fastest flying aeroplane – travelling at an impressive 7 metres per second!
