2016 Home Nations

English Pair Represent Wales

In August 2016 Cardiff Circle’s Bro Bernard Adshead and his wife Vickie represented Wales at pétanque in the Home Nations Championship featuring England, Scotland, Wales and, for the first time, the island of Jersey. Vickie & Bernard both hail from Manchester but their 35 years in Cardiff qualified them for the Welsh team. The competition took place at the Inverleith Pétanque Club in Edinburgh and each country had 8 triples teams with each team playing 12 games over the weekend. England, who have won the competition every year since it started in 2000, prevailed yet again but Wales came a creditable second. For Vickie it was her first time in the Welsh team but Bro Bernard previously represented Wales in 2014 in the same competition.
