(by Steve Hopkins)

New York City Table Tennis Academy (NYCTTA) is located in New York City on East 74th Street between Central Park and the East River in Manhattan.  The facility is on the fifth floor of Jan Hus Church. The facility has hardwood flooring, excellent lighting, a high ceiling, and generally uses 5-7 tables.
NYCTTA is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to teach the Olympic sport of table tennis to boys and girls starting at 6–8 years of age from all socioeconomic backgrounds. The goal is to develop a pipeline of well-trained table tennis student-athletes in a rigorous program that teaches technical aspects of the game while also nurturing individual growth.
NYCTTA is the first table tennis academy of its kind in New York City.  It delivers a professional training system that is overseen by highly qualified coaches. The program recruits junior athletes in the New York area through community outreach and by word of mouth. NYCTTA works closely with public and private schools to identify kids who show interest and talent in table tennis.
The Academy’s founder and director is Jon Ebuen.  Ebuen, who is well-known as both a coach and player, was a member of the Philippine National team and a former Filipino National Champion.  He became a US Citizen in 2008 and has coached US National Champions and US National Team members.
In 2012, NYCTTA started an after-school program at PS 212 and PS 214M (supplying tables and equipment and training sessions for students).  In 2010, NYCTTA produced the youngest US National Champion, Michael Landers (age 15).  And in 2011, the academy also helped launch 14 year old Ethan Jin to a first place finish in the US Cadet Boys category.
