BROMSGROVE RFC slipped to a 33-23 defeat against previously winless Stoke-on-Trent as the Boars suffered their first home defeat of the season.

Second-half tries from Jack Morris, Callum Megram, and Richard Hance proved in vain at Finstall Park as the Boars saw their two-match winning run come to an end.

And the result means Bromsgrove sit ninth in the Regional 1 Midlands table after four matches.

The home side took an early lead when Will Harris kicked a second-minute penalty before Stoke scored 13 unanswered points.

Harris added another penalty just before half time as the Boars went into the break behind.

However, tries from Morris and Megram at the start of the second period put Bromsgrove back on top only for Stoke to add 20 points to their total and take the game out of the home side’s reach.

Hance crossed for a consolation try in the final minute with Samuel Brown adding the extras as the Boars failed to secure any bonus points after converting just one of their three tries.

Bromsgrove are next in action away at Kenilworth on Saturday, September 30 with kick-off at 3pm at Glasshouse Lane.
