S.T.E.P. gymnastics opens season

Gymnasts ages 6-14 from the S.T.E.P. Training Centre in Kootenai kicked off their competitive gymnastics season at the Wine Country Classic in Kennewick, Washington Jan. 24-26.
The bronze level S.T.E.P. gymnasts competed first on Jan. 24 and captured a first place team finish. All of the girls have been practicing diligently and their dedicated practice was showcased in their performances.
Ryan Ely took first in all her events and in the all around with a score of 37.650 in the Senior B division. Her teammate Irelynn Jolley took second in the all around in the same division.
Vivian Schuck scored a whopping 9.525 earning her first on bars and second in all around in the Junior B division. Annaliese Reimann was full of grace on the floor and took home first with a 9.225. She also captured third in the Junior C division.
Leah Hawley shined on the bars with a 9.525 to earn first and third place all around in the Senior A division.
The silver, gold and platinum level gymnasts competed on Jan. 26. The morning started off with the gold team. This year’s young gold team is made up of five girls who have had success in the bronze and silver levels and are now pushing to break into the challenging gold level.
Kinsley Vasquez had a solid debut securing third on the bars and second on the beam. Her sister, Megen Vasquez, took the top of the podium finishing first on the bars with a 9.475. Eva Willis, the gold level Idaho State Champion in 2019, bumped up a level this year to represent the team in the platinum division.
The silver team placed third at the event as Aspynn Duquette took first the on bars with a 9.6 and second all around in the Junior A division. Lydia Babcock competed in the Senior B division and also placed first on bars with a 9.675 and captured third in the all around.
The gymnasts next competition is the Great West Gym Fest at the Coeur d’Alene Resort later this month.
