What sports did you play in school and college?

I started horse riding at a very young age and continued competing in show jumping, cross country and eventing throughout most of my school years.

Hobbies and interests?

Outside of triathlon, I am a big Formula 1 and Rugby fan.

When and why did you choose triathlon as your sport?

2010, a friend and fellow Belpark clubmate introduced me to triathlon.

What does a typical week consist of?

Unfortunately at the moment it varies quite a bit. Sport wise – I try to keep to a pattern but with increasing demands from work it can be challenging.  However there is always time for my bike.

Which part of triathlon would be your strongest or favourite?

For those of you who know me, this is easy..bike.

How does being a member of Belpark add to your experience of the sport?

Its about being part of a team, one with a pretty successful legacy. Encouraging one to give that extra push to be part of that success. Its a good network of friends. It also provides an educational framework for the sport through various training sessions and talks.

What are your most satisfying achievements in triathlon and life?

Triathlon: Part of the successful 2011 female and mixed club championship. 3rd place national duathlon champs. Some NS race podiums.

Life: A few come to mind but hoping the best is yet to come.

What advice would you give to other busy individuals trying to balance their career, personal life and training schedule?

Set realistic goals and a plan on how best to achieve these. Preparation is key. Be aware and ready to adjust to changes in demands from work and personal circumstances. Adequate rest is equally as important as a training session.  Listen to your body and be able to recognise when you need a break. Not all training sessions need be ‘murder’. Most should be at a reasonably comfortable pace. Consistency is key to success.

Who inspires you in life and sport?

Life: Nelson Mandela-  if anyone ever questions what difference one individual person can make I answer Nelson Mandela – he changed the face of history through his inspired leadership.

Sport : Muhammad Ali.

More recently Joe Schidmt. Super smart coach. Can win a match from the sideline. Should he require a change in career I suggest triathlon.

If time, talent and money were no obstacle, what event or adventure would you most like to take part in?

Formula one race with VIP pass to the paddock. Day in Mercedes garage – design the winning car for 2015 season.

What are your goals for 2015?

As Ladies Captain this year, hopefully to lead the ladies back to glory and regain the female champs. Personally I hope to enjoy the season ahead and maybe next season move my focus towards middle distance.
