IAPS Champs 2024
Well done to Chase and Hunter who had a great day at the National Independent Association of Independent Prep Schools Championships! Both won Gold medals with throws the cameras had trouble keeping up with! Students from Monkton Combe, also coached by Pete, attended and in total Bath came away with 5 Golds and 2 Bronzes!
Ippon in 5 Seconds!
Well done to Ralph who travelled up to Kidderminster this weekend for the Samurai Orange Belt and Under competition. Ralph got off to a great start, winning his first fight within five seconds with a beautiful ippon throw! He also won his next fight but had to retire injured in the third and so came away with a well deserved bronze medal.
Chase & Hunter Medal in BJC Competition
Great fighting today from Chase and Hunter at only their second competition. This time it was a BJC event in Bristol with Chase winning Silver and Hunter coming away with Gold after producing the throw of the day – a huge Ippon Seoi Nage. Well done boys!!!
Ethan & Tom Dan Grades
Ethan, requiring just one win to gain his second Dan, opted to continue and ended the day winning 7 contests all by Ippon, winning his line-up and then stopping two others in their lineups. Ethan’s drop seoi-nage proved unstoppable, accounting for all but one of his throws for Ippon. Silver for Ralph in the Midlands Schools
Ralph travelled to Wolverhampton to take part in a very competitive British Schools Midlands Championships. This was Ralphs first experience of competition judo and he put in a great performance, winning by Ippon throws all the way to the final!
Royal Marines Open Champs
A great effort from the boys who travelled to the Royal Marines Commandos Training Center, Exmouth! Logan earns his Black Belt!
Congrats to Logan on winning his Black Belt at the Budokwai on the 30th April! The Budokwai is the oldest judo club in Europe and has been the centre of excellence for the sport of judo for nearly 100 years. Jack takes Silver at the National Schools Champs
Jack Williams thought in the National Schools Championships in Sheffield and came away with the Silver in the over 60kgs, years 6-7. Jack was very unlucky not to get Gold but a great result fighting larger fighters than himself having just sneaked into the top weight category at 61kgs!
