FAQ
Wanna know the basics before you hit join?
Who can join?
Anyone who has a CWRU Network ID!
For liability reasons, only those with CWRU Network IDs (abc123) can participate in our club. If you're a CWRU undergraduate student, graduate student, postdoc, faculty, or staff, you're good to go! CIM students are also welcome!
*Alumni and CIA students unfortunately cannot join, sorry!
Is there a certain skill level I need to join?
Nope!
No experience is necessary to join. We welcome players from all skill levels!
Is there a free trial period?
Yes!
We have a free trial period that covers the first two practices that you attend at any time during the semester. Afterwards, you can decide if you wish to become a member of Club Badminton or not.
How much is membership?
$40 per semester
The cost of dues covers your ability to use the club's nylon/feather birdies and other expenses and equipment such as tournament transportation, access to a stringing machine, string, overgrip tape, etc. Payments can be made through Campus Groups.
Is equipment provided?
Only for members after the trial period!
If you're a member, nets and birdies (shuttlecocks) are provided and club rackets are available to be loaned on a first come, first served basis.
When are practices?
We hold practices every Friday and Saturday beginning January 26th.
Practices for spring 2024 semester will be held every Friday and Sunday 7:00 to 10:00PM at Veale courts 1 & 2. (Practice dates and times are subject to change throughout the semester, but they are posted on the CWRU Athletics Facilities Schedule.) Our last Sunday practice of the semester will be April 13th & our last Friday practice will be April 19th.
Are there tournaments?
We compete in at least 1 collegiate tournament per semester.
We occasionally hold university-wide tournaments.
*Intramurals are managed by Athletics, and not Club Badminton
Wait, but I'm not eligible for the USA Badminton league.
That's okay, you're still eligible for all our other events!
If you are ineligible for the league's events, we still have non-league intra/inter-mural events and club practices that you can join!
I heard there's an exec board. Can I join?
Yes!
While our annual Exec elections happen during February, please reach out to the Exec board at badminton-exec@case.edu if interested!
