BRISTOL, R.I.— Graduate student Jared Rainville (Watertown, Conn.) and senior Topher Bower (Chicago, Ill.) combined for 15 points and No. 19/20 Babson College rattled off 10 unanswered goals to end the first quarter and begin the second on the way to defeating Roger Williams University, 20-10, in the men's lacrosse season opener for both schools Saturday afternoon at Bayside Field.

Babson (1-0) won its season opener for the eighth consecutive season while Roger Williams starts the year at 0-1.

The Beavers got off to a slow start, trailing 4-2 after the first 8-plus minutes of the game. Rainville and Bower tallied back-to-back goals to tie the score and start the 10-goal spurt, and Bordonaro, Rainville and Rooney fired in goals to put the visitors up 7-4 after one frame.

Rooney scored his second straight goal from Bower to open the second quarter before Rainville, Brofft, Bordonaro and Tauss ripped four goals in a span of a minute and 23 seconds to extend the lead to 12-4. Halpin stopped the bleeding with a goal for RWU but Brofft scored again for Babson just before the end of the half and Rooney and Rainville tacked on man-up goals to start the third quarter as the Beaver lead grew to 15-5.

The teams alternated two goals each over the remainder of the third quarter and two more apiece in the first five minutes of the fourth as Babson coasted to the victory.
