After a weather related schedule change sent the SVC women's bowling team to Columbus, Ohio instead of Buffalo, New York, the team responded with a second place finish among 13 teams in an Ohio Bowling Conference event.
Â
Heavy snow forced the cancelation of the planned Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference event, so the Bearcats headed west and were in contention for the tournament win throughout the afternoon.
Â
The team was in third place after the first traditional team game, led by
Jackie Koehler's 184. In game two,
Monique Koehler (224) and
Kaitlyn Morrison (212) topped the scoresheet, pushing the Bearcats into first place.
Â
In game three,
Sabine Strickland had the top score (195), while
Monique Koehler added a 185 and
Abby Justice finished with a 184 game. In game four, it was again Strickland with the top score, at 198.Â
Â
After the fourth game, the Bearcats were in second place, 51 pins behind Ohio State University, but the team saved its best for game five. Morrison shot a 237 game, while
Olivia Emmonds added a 199. The team score of 924 pushed the team into first place, 8 pins ahead of Muskingum University and 11 ahead of Ohio State.
Â
The competition then shifted to Baker team games, with three rounds of four games each. The three top teams continued to change positions, with OSU taking a 2-pin lead after the first set, with Muskingum in second, and SVC only 11 pins back in third.
Â
After the second round, SVC jumped to second, just three pins behind new leader Muskingum. The Bearcats managed to pass Muskingum in the final four-game block, but Ohio State had a strong final series and pulled away to the team victory.Â
Â
In Baker play, Justice led the scoresheet with a 200.0 average, followed by Emmonds at 170.3.Â
Â
As a team, the Bearcats averaged 175.8 in traditional games and 166.6 in Baker play, with an overall 173 average for the tournament.
Â
The team has concluded its fall semester schedule and will return to action in mid-January.
