D3baseball.com Ranks Adrian No. 5 in Preseason Poll

ADRIAN, Mich. -- D3baseball.com/NCBWA announced its Top-25 Preseason Poll this week featuring the Adrian College Baseball team holding the No. 5 spot in the country. The Bulldogs finished last season with the No. 5 ranking after the final poll was released at the conclusion of the Division III College World Series. The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper announced it's preseason top-40 rankings earlier this month slotting Adrian as No. 8 in the preseason poll.

Adrian will look to have another successful after recording 37 wins, a MIAA Championship, Regional Championship, and a NCAA College World Series appearance.

Adrian graduated a large portion of the starting lineup from 2021, but also bring back and mix of players that saw significant playing time during last season. Shortstop Thomas Miller returns to lead the infield along with Ty Peck in centerfield and Kevin Cardentey to DH. On the pitching side of things, the Bulldogs return left-handed pitcher Maxwell Denny and right handers Michael Swanson and Gage Ricker. Out of the bullpen, the Bulldogs will return Tripp Russo and closer Jacob Hanoian.

Adrian sits higher than UW-Whitewater who they defeated twice at Whitewater to win the Regional Championship with a pair of one-run games including a walk-off extra inning thriller. The Bulldogs also sit above Washington University in St. Louis who defeated Adrian to knock them out of the College World Series. The only team in the Mideast Region sitting ahead of Adrian is Marietta who did not make it out of it's regional last season. Including the teams receiving votes, Adrian marks the only team in the MIAA featured in the D3baseball.com preseason poll.

Adrian has released its 2022 schedule featuring a tough preseason. The Bulldogs are scheduled to face RV UW-Oshkosh, RV Piedmont, No. 21 Denison, and No. 7 Birmingham-Southern all in the first week of the season. Adrian will then take on Greensboro, William Peace, Heidelberg, Case Western Reserve, Earlham, and Otterbein before opening MIAA conference play.
