No Win, No Fee on Grant Funding

Below are a few examples of some of the projects we have successfully secured funding for, grants vary in size depending on the needs of the organisation.  Due to data protection and child welfare we have decided not to put examples of successful projects that are located at Schools, Charities or projects that benefit under privileged areas/participants.  Please contact us if you need examples of projects we have secured funding for if they are not listed below.

Case Studies

Charity

Its difficult for us to showcase the work we do with charities as many of them work with vulnerable adults or children that can’t have there photos taken.  We work with charities of all sizes from establised large organisation to small ones working within the community.  We have recently secured funding for a specialist disabled children’s nursery, this included outdoor play equipment and funding towards a specialist member of staff.

We continue to work with a mental health charity, they moved to new premises and needed to upgrade them to improve accessibility, we obtained a significant grant for building repairs including toilets, kitchen and disabled access.  We also secured funding for part and full time staff posts.  We are now helping them with a number of new projects.

2nd Phase All Saints Church Longstanton

The aim of our Church project is to install much needed new kitchen facilities as well as a new community meeting place within the Church. The project seeks to modify the church building so that it can be used, not only as a place of worship, but also for a variety of local community activities, which will benefit the wider rural community as well as the church here in Longstanton. With a significantly growing local population we urgently need to complete this project

Project:  This involves completion of the kitchen area as well as the provision of a new community meeting area and upper floor within the church.

The project provided a meeting area and public facilities that will open the Church building to much greater use by the wider community. These new essential facilities are designed to meet the communal needs of a rapidly expanding local community.

Multi Use Sports Facility – London

The committee approached us as they had a number of applications for funding turned down. A unique community facility that is home to FIVE different sporting clubs as well as multiple community groups. Used for : Cricket, Tennis, Croquet, Squash and Hockey. The boiler within the facility was beyond repair and the changing rooms and toilets were in a terrible condition.  4Grants secured a number of grants that  enabled them to transform the facility.  We are now working with them on a number of new projects in 2023.

Cricket Nets

A community cricket club has been transformed following the installation of a x2 bay cricket practice net.  4Grants has been working with the club for a number of years helping with projects which include a new Pavilion, ground equipment and core funding to deliver a number of community sessions.

Before the nets were installed the club was relying on good weather to train on wickets to side of the main square with a mobile cage.  With games throughout the week they found it hard to arrange any meaningful practice sessions.  The nets have helped to increase the number of juniors who have joined the club by 50% in 2022, they have also been used by county age group teams and for summer camps.

Charity – Community Facility Gets Facelift

We began working with this non-profit making charity in 2021, they run the community facilities including meeting rooms, hall, outdoor football pitches and meeting rooms.

The hall is one of the most widely in the area and is at the heart of the community, the facilities provide multi use high quality and affordable social and sports facilities for local communities for all ages and abilities.

The committee simply didn’t have the time and knowledge to apply for grant funding yet they had a number of urgent projects that needed funding.

Main hall – The main hall is large enough to hold various events, from village shows to dances or evenings of entertainment as well as various sports from taekwondo to badminton. We started off by obtaining a number of large grants, these were used in 2021 to replace old and broken windows and install a new kitchen.  We also obtained funding to replace the hall floor and install new lighting within it.

More energy efficient – In early 2022 we secured funding for solar panels on the roof and air source heat pumps.

During 2022 we have been working with the charity to help source funding for the next projects, these include new disable toilets and improvements to the entrance.

Charity Core Funding

We have been helping a charity who support people with Aspergers and Mental Health issues.  The charity have grown significantly but didn’t have anyone with the specialist skills to apply for funding.  Following a couple of site visits we understood their needs and began to source specific funding for the projects they asked us to look at.

Asperger’s Syndrome, part of the autistic spectrum is a high anxiety, lifelong condition. It is a neurological difference. People with Asperger’s process information differently, think differently and learn differently frequently leading to being misunderstood, isolated and disadvantaged, missing out in education and employment opportunities because they are different.

We were successful in securing multiple grants to enable them to expand our autism specific counselling and mentoring services to meet the needs of families and individuals unable to access vital support and therapy from local authorities, the NHS, Healthy Minds, The Crisis Team, social prescribers, the NHS and social and support workers. Their service was stretched and the funding has helped them to meet the growing demand they are experiencing.

Fitness Project for people with Mental Health issues

4Grants helped a small charity obtain funding to expand their sport and physical activity sessions.  Since setting back up after knockdown all of their sessions and activities have seen a large increase in the number of people wanting to access them, there is a clear demand for the activities they are running.  Like many charities the issue they had was not having the expertise to find the grants and the time to apply for them.

The funding we obtained was to allow them to continue to run the current sessions and offer more physical activity sessions, football sessions, walking and groups fitness sessions. Locally, people with mental health issues have has very few places to play yet alone any specific sessions geared for them; we provide additional activities to encourage health and fitness along with social activities. The activities benefit people from all across the Midlands who travel to use our services.

  • Fitness- Taking place in local parks, they are good for mind/body. It raises the awareness of our organisation and physical activity sessions within the community.
  • Boxing – Informal boxing fitness sessions taking place in local venues, to focus is on fitness not the boxing itself.
  • Football – Run regular weekly football sessions and matches for the participants.

The funding helped pay for coaches, facility hire, marketing and equipment.

Care Farm

We were approached by a care farm, they needed help with grant applications.  Before working with 4Grants all of their work was funded through their own fundraising efforts and donations. They recently purchased a modular building, the building was sited but it will be just the shell. They needed to make the building accessible for our users, this will include: Kitchen, heating, access and flooring. They also needed it kitted out with chairs, tables and external pots and planters.

Before having the new building they were using a stable as an office and store, it has no heating and have nowhere for users to shelter from the weather when its hot during the summer and when its cold and wet. We have no heating and have to hire a porta-loo, on top of this we have limited storage space for our equipment.  We managed to secure funding for the above which has transformed the site.

BENEFIT: The project has benefitted Children and adults who have been isolated & excluded and had varied health conditions and disability spanning ADHD, ADD, ASC, LD, SLD and anxiety.

We are now working with them to make the site more sustainable for future generations to access and enjoy.  The next stage is to obtain funding for part time staff to deliver a variety of activities as well as employing casual staff to deliver specific training and qualifications.

Crondall Village Hall

We have helped Crondall on a number of different projects that have transformed the inside of the hall, this included kitchen, toilets and extension to the facility.  The last phase of the project involved removing the existing roof, replacing it with a more eco friendly and insulated system.

At a cost of over £120,000 the project has secured the long-term future of the facility, made it more economical to run and reduce maintenance costs.

All Saints Church Longstanton

The aim of our Church project is to install much needed new kitchen facilities as well as a new community meeting place within the Church. The project seeks to modify the church building so that it can be used, not only as a place of worship, but also for a variety of local community activities, which will benefit the wider rural community as well as the church here in Longstanton. With a significantly growing local population we urgently need to complete this project.

Phase 1 was complete in April 2019 which included new toilets.

4Grants helped securing funding for Phase 2, this involves completion of the kitchen area as well as the provision of a new community meeting area and upper floor within the church.

The project will provide a meeting area and public facilities that will open the Church building to much greater use by the wider community. These new essential facilities are designed to meet the communal needs of a rapidly expanding local community.

Langham Play Area

We were approached by Langham parish Council to help them gain funding to transform their run down play area.

The newly refurbished Community Park is so named because it now really does have something for everyone in the community: from a separate play area for small children, to a zipwire, a MUGA for 8 different games including football and basket-ball, exercise equipment for the more mature, and much more. And there are new picnic tables, kindly provided by Mick Appleby Racing Ltd., and even a fenced off dog zone for canine friends while their owners play or exercise.

4Grants secured funding of £55,000 from the FCC Communities Foundation, together with Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL)funding from Langham Parish Council.  As you can see the new facility looks incredible.

New Cricket Ground Project

Last year Alveley Cricket Club moved to their new ground Four Oaks, what was a former farmer’s field has been completely transformed into an idyllic cricket ground.  4Grants have supported the club from the outset, the club started from scratch, this involved finding a piece of land.

4Grants then went to work helping with funding towards:

  • Purchasing ground which was then a farmer field
  • Changing the use of the land
  • Carrying out all the necessary feasibility reports including aborcultural, geotopical, ecological reports
  • Perimeter fencing installation
  • Laying the square
  • Levelling the outfield and installing drainage.

The Pavilion was built in March 2019.

We then worked on applications for nets and further improvements to the Pavilion.  Work will start in the winter to install a pitched roof on the Pavilion, extend changing rooms and build a covered outdoor seating area.

They have now received the news that we have obtained funding for them for new all weather practice nets, which they are over the moon about.

The whole project has taken about seven years to complete from start to finish. 4Grants has secured funding close to 500k towards this project which has secured the long term future of a thriving community sports club.

4Grants Helps to Transform Inner City Community Cricket Club

Don’t take our word for it view the video here

The London based club approached 4Grants after having been rejected after making a number of applications themselves.  We helped them develop a project and sports development plan as well as researching the local area.  A number of applications were made, as a result the club received a substantial grant award that has helped them develop a new practice facility.  This project was critical so that those opportunities are available and a time, location that is within the community. It has helped reduce social isolation the project will pull the community together.  The future for the club looks very bright.

Community Hall Get’s Make Over

The facility was in need of urgent improvements, 4Grants gained funding which has allowed them to:

  • Extend and modernise the kitchen to facilitate catering for weddings and large events.
  • Add an office much needed by the committee.
  • Add storage facilities, enabling regular hirers to consider keeping their equipment at the hall and to release the existing room used for storage to be used by visiting acts as a changing or holding room
  • Add double glazing to the front of the building
  • Upgrade our heating and lighting systems.

Village Hall Has a Big Make Over

The Village Hall (old Village School built in 1842 and converted to a community village hall in 1994) was in urgent need of refurbishment.

The condition of the building was putting people off from using it. The Village Hall is next to the village green and the recreation ground provides a fine location for many private and community organised events.  The Village Hall committee approached 4Grants, after a brief conversation they were very keen to use our services.  The hall was in urgent need of repair particularly the pitched and flat roof, kitchen, external brickwork, windows and play ground all needed upgrading. See for yourself:

A number of funding applications we made and significant funding was obtained for the project.  The facility had a full makeover inside and out.  Its now used extensively by community groups, charities and local Councils.  As you will see from the photos the hall looks amazing and will benefit the community for many years to come.

Community Sports Facility has Extension and Facelift.

4Grants secured the funding for the Clubhouse refurbishment Empingham Cricket & Social Club, the kitchen extension now complete and the new kitchen in use.

Community Pavilion Improvements

Over the last few months there has been a comprehensive refurbishment of the main hall which included new ceiling tiles and ceiling insulation, new floor covering to the main hall, bar and cellar area as well as the showers and gents toilets. There are also new access doors, new windows to the front of the club, as well as painting and decorating.

The gents’ toilets have been segregated from the showering facilities, which will enable Ladies Cricket to be played more frequently at the club, and we are pleased that Leicestershire Ladies continue to use the club.

A new bar has been installed and good progress has been made with the drinks and glass storage areas behind the bar, which is expected to be complete by the end of September this year. Improvements to the chiller room, including improved insulation, will enable the club to stock beers for longer and greatly improve the environmental aspects of cellaring beers. Funding was secured from a number of different funders for the project, 4Grants have also helped the club secure funding for ground and training equipment during the past few years.

The very much improved clubhouse facilities will be of great benefit to all playing and social members together with the members of other affiliated groups.

Inside the Pavilion

Empingham Bowls Club, Empingham Garden Club, Empingham Historical Society, Empingham Girls Night Out, Empingham Crib Team, Empingham Rounders Team, Empingham Youth Club and Rutland Water Fly Fishers are benefiting from the facility.

Cornish Cricket Club on the up!

The club currently used the grass wicket and grass outfield areas to practice and to coach on.   Participation in practice sessions is very much subject to weather conditions.  It also meant that practice is undertaken on a surface that is not necessarily true, therefore producing an uneven bounce on the grassed area.

The club approached 4Grants to help with a 3 lane net project and also to get funding ground equipment to include a mower as theres had broken.   4Grants sourced a grant for a brand new mower for the club.  We then obtained two sources of funding for the outdoor nets, these have now been built and are used by all age groups to practice on.

The project will be delivered in deprived areas of Oldham with an identified need for structured activities (highlighted above) to the address local issues highlighted.

The project will be used to empower young leaders to take a more active role in the delivery of sessions, this will build skills which will enable them to teach and coach in their community in the future.
