Perry Beeches Sutton Swim Squad is a teaching and competitive swimming club based in Birmingham.  It came about as the result of a merger between Perry Beeches Club and Triple S Swimming Club in 2003.  This resulted in a large squad of swimmers enabling us to compete and be very successful in a variety of leagues, open meets and friendly galas.  More recently, due to the tragic death of Eddie Blight in May 2008, we have been joined by the swimmers from Westminster Swimming Club.

We compete across the Midlands at various pools mainly on a Saturday evening, we swim as a team to gain league points or to compete for trophies at friendly galas.  We also encourage our swimmers to take part in Open Meets to achieve Personal Best times for themselves and to win medals.

As a Club our aims are:
To develop swimmers to their full potential

To provide a pathway for the swimmers to be part of National, District, County and City Squad

Exposure to Top level competitions

And fundamentally the enjoyment, fun and social aspect of being part of a swimming club

Currently we teach children from three years of age to swim, in a fun and friendly environment. We are also a competitive club. This means that if you are chosen to swim for the club in galas we expect you to make every effort to attend. Obviously we do not expect you to swim if you are ill, away or have a broken limb – well, not usually!!! - but we do expect you to attend if you are available. This does not mean that you will always do individual events, it might only be in a relay team, but this is just as important. All swims gain us points so without a relay team we lose out. Every swimmer is important to the team.

The club targets four leagues each year - Worcester Winter League, Diddys, Mercian League and the Nationals (formerly known as Speedo). The club also competes in a number of other galas throughout the year - see the fixture list for more information.

Swimmers are also encouraged to compete in Open Meets.

The club holds a valid ASA insurance certificate, a copy of which can be seen at each of the pools we use - Beeches, Handsworth and Erdington Pools.

The club is run by volunteers who all give their time to help and organise how the club is run.  We have a committee who meets monthly to decide on different issues.  We are always looking for new recruits to join us and help with events etc.  As you can imagine it takes a lot of effort and energy to keep the club running.  We produce newsletters regularly and also have the desk open at Beeches every Sunday (and in the week if possible) so that Parents can buy equipment of ask for advice.  T-shirts and other kit can be ordered on an order form.
