Affiliations Hollowell Scullers is a rowing club affiliated
to the British Rowing and is based at Hollowell Sailing
Club on Hollowell Reservoir at Guilsborough in Northamptonshire. It
is conveniently located for Rugby, Market Harborough, Daventry,
Long Buckby and the surrounding
area.
The club has a fleet of sculling boats including singles, doubles, quadruple
sculls and two octuple sculls.
Training normally takes place on Saturday mornings from 10-12am, and Sunday
mornings from 8-11am and 6pm on Wednesday evenings, in Summer.
We have an
active group of sculling members - boys and girls, from 10 years olds to
60+.

to take up the sport. A frequently asked question is “how old do
I have to be before I can start”
The answer to this is that our sport is not age related. You can
be as young – or old – as you like. However the one prerequisite
is that you are able to swim 4 lengths of a 25 meter swimming pool
wearing leggings and a “t” shirt at least 2 of these
lengths needs to be on your back “ life-saving style” hands
folded across your chest.
Having “passed” the pool session you will be awarded
your 1st National Rowing qualification - British Rowing’s Water
Safety Certificate.
You are now ready to take to the water in a single
sculling boat. Capsize and Immersion Drill. We are a small club run by amateur volunteers,
with their own children and family commitments.
Although the club has some experienced rowers, it does not have regular
qualified professional coaches.
Parents of new juniors are therefore expected to share in the supervision
of their own children - including joining the club, taking the RYA safety
boat
courses provided by Hollowell Sailing Club and learning to drive the safety
boats or learning to row with their children. Henley Royal Regatta 2009 - the most famous
regatta in the World Hollowell's under-15s took part in the most famous
regatta in the world. They were the youngest crew in their event,
the junior quadruple sculls. An enjoyable experience, which will
set them up to do well at this event in the future. (Pictures taken
