Is Cameron getting his revenge on junior whip Wiggin?

Bill Wiggin: Does not get on with Mr Cameron, I am told, and may soon be seatless

Bill Wiggin: Does not get on with Mr Cameron, I am told, and may soon be seatless

David Cameron was criticised last year for not sacking his junior whip, Bill Wiggin, after he was ordered by the Standards And Privileges Committee to repay £4,000 for expenses 'he did not actually incur'.

Is Wiggin finally about to receive his punishment? Proposed boundary changes put forward by the Coalition mean his North Herefordshire seat is in danger of disappearing.

Although it was suggested Cameron had originally been lenient with Wiggin because they were at Eton together, I am told: 'Not true. Cameron once dated Wiggin's wife Milly. They actually despise each other.'

  • The original headline to this article referred to Bill Wiggin MP as an “expenses cheat”. We have been asked to make clear that the Standards and Privileges Committee concluded, on the balance of probabilities, that Mr Wiggin had claimed for expenditure he did not incur; there was no suggestion of deliberate dishonesty on his part. The headline has been amended accordingly.

Why did Prince Andrew opt to wear morning dress at Saturday's Trooping the Colour rather than military regalia?

As an officer in the Royal Navy, no one would begrudge him wearing his naval uniform. Nor the South Atlantic Medal he was awarded in 1982 for flying helicopters during the Falklands War.

No such modesty from his younger brother the Earl of Wessex, who donned a  pantomime brown uniform with three decorative medals. All bestowed by his mother.

Former Blue Peter Presenter Anthea Turner, 51, pictured right, says of the much-loved BBC children's programme: 'It's just a fantastic show to do – although the sad thing is the viewing figures aren't what they were.'

Aren't what they were when she was presenting it, in other words.

The decision to award an OBE to Jess Conrad – for 'services to charity' – surprises friends of the 1960s pop 'hunk'.

Conrad, 75, has not made himself popular over his claims of sexual athletics with various female stars, including Ava Gardner and Diana Dors.

He once boasted of biting off part of the nose of German-born singer Heinz in a backstage confrontation, and threatened to cut off camp comedian Frankie Howerd's ears after an unsolicited gay advance in a dressing room.

Whither Paul Burrell, Princess Diana's tale-telling butler she supposedly referred to as 'My Rock'?

Having moved to Florida, locals in Farndon, Cheshire, say he's now back running the family flower shop spending much of his time with a local solicitor called Graham. 'They have a shared interest in art,' I'm told.

Apropros the Duchess of Cambridge recycling her favourite outfits, Joan Collins tweets: 'Well done Duchess Kate 4 recycling older outfits, even tho the Fash pack won't approve. I do the same.' So generous of Joan, 78, to bring herself down to the Duchess's level.
